I found your KZbin channel one day by accident, during a commute. I am nearing 59, so I have many, many years of watching reality TV in my wheelhouse, so I could relate to everything you were saying. I found myself laughing hysterically at your impersonations of all the reality TV personalities. (Spot on for Tom Sandy butt.)… However, this conversation is totally resonating with me as an older female, who was diagnosed late in life with ADHD. I had no idea how much I was masking through my entire adult life. It’s exhausting and no one really understands. Thank you for putting words to my feelings and always making me laugh. Now it makes even more sense why I get your humor so much.😂

I was also diagnosed with ADHD later in life at 29 so I love that you talk about these things! I struggled with so much shame for so long not knowing that a lot of the things that frustrated me about myself was actually related to adhd. And I’m a night owl like you too! I’ve heard many adhd people have insomnia because of our constantly running thoughts which I definitely struggled with most of my life and I think it’s part of why I’m such a night owl?

We just work at different hours. As long as you get sleep. Just think about nurses they literally work at night.

I am a cashier and I completely understand the masking. It takes so much mental gymnastics to stay focused, I’m exhausted after every shift. I force myself to walk 5 miles before work and most days 5 miles after work in an effort to get my thoughts aligned. It helps me deal with the chaos of the day. It’s a healthy addiction, I really feel it when I’m too tire…it’s become such a routine, I rarely skip.

Replay crew! I fully feel what you’re saying about masking! I was really successful academically and found lots of work arounds to function like a neurotypical person. But I would come home utterly exhausted and generally had terrible anxiety. During the past decade, I’ve learned how much I need to physically move to calm my brain and with my ADHD diagnosis, I’ve stopped trying to force myself to do things the way others do. Medication has helped a lot… and while people have questioned my diagnosis, when a stimulant actually makes you calmer, you know it’s truly ADHD!

Speaking of careers when we people find what they love, Xchel is just in the very beginning stages and itll be so excited for him to find where he feels he fits the best. I’m a social worker and have been for 20ish years and I just found my absolutely right fit 4 years ago! But part of the ride is figuring it out! Nursing is similar to social work in that there are soooo many completely different opportunities!! How exciting!

I have my doubts but Im excited about the Buffy reboot. Im all about the buff, rebuff the reboot. I guess time will tell if the reboot will be a revival or regret. I love that Sarah Muchelle Gellar has remained loyal to the fans and show throughout the years. She really was the " chosen one" for the role. She killed it.
