I know you said he's selling the recipes, but we all know that if 100 different chefs make the same dish, from the same ingredients, from the same instructions, they'd end up with 100 different (although similar) tastes. So much more went into those pies! From his skills, to his ovens, to his local connections to get the right ingredients fresh from the farms . . . and now the perfect combination of circumstances that led to the experience you had, will be no more. Just like the steak episode with Bill AKA Meat Yoda, this episode turned out so much better than a Michelin starred restaurant taste test would’ve gone. Sure, seeing Josh and Ollie enjoy gourmet food at a fancy restaurant would’ve been great. But seeing them go to a humble little pie shop in the middle of Scotland and be absolutely blown away with every single pie they ate is far more enjoyable to watch. It’s also great that Trossachs Pies are affordable and accessible, so anyone who can make their way up to Scotland can have the same experience. And Danny AKA Einstein of Pies AKA Pie Yoda seems like just the loveliest man. He’s literally won international awards for his pies, but he’s still so humble-again, the perfect complement to Josh and Ollie. I’m not saying that I hope more of your plans fall through, but it’s worked out well so far! Looking forward to the rest of this series!!!

The concept of savoury pies - or just pies in general - is not that popular in Germany, but when I was on a holiday in Wales, I basically survived on mushroom pies - I loved them. Never tried steak pie though - since I love steak, I might need to try that sometime. The family was rather skeptical about British food (sorry guys, but the rep is not the best), but I actually enjoyed most of it - and they were positively surprised as well.

I generally find that those who don't have a positive perspective on British food have either never eaten any and are going on a stereotype they've heard, or have only eaten what is sold at overpriced tourist spots. British food, especially home-cooked by a British mum, is some of the best, most hearty food in the world. It's all about comfort. You could eat any British dish as comfort food.

It's nice to see you guys actually enjoying British food. TBH this channel usually adds to the fallacy that food from the UK is bad. I mean, yeah we have our fair share of bad scran, but theres also a lot of flavoursome, not bland, well made cuisine in Britain. I'm happy to see your international audience finally learning that not all our food is bland, beige shit!
@Kaspleen2 жыл бұрын
I am glad about this too! I always think it is sad to season British food put through the dirt It is sad in a way since Britain has very high food standards and food laws in comparison to others place, never over seasoned so that you can taste everything. When you taste the fruit and veg at its peak, it tastes amazing. The meat, grass fed no matter where you go and fish fresh. Honestly there is great food there but when you only ever see and hear bad about it, well that is what tends to be believed

I keep feeling like Korean Englishman is showcasing Korean culture/food to english people, and Jolly is introducing English culture/cuisine instead
@whipcream3452 жыл бұрын
@@iiiivvvv9986 yeah, they introduce English cuisine, but in the worst way possible! They alway act as if there's no flavour or complexity to any British dish but there's plenty of diversity! Fair enough, our traditional food is fairly simple (but still tasty, I challenge you to find a more satisfying dish than a full Sunday roast with all the trimmings) but we have *SO* much imported and adapted British food. We have some of the best chefs in the world aswell as a ridiculous amount of Michelin stars. It's time to put to bed the fallacy that England has bad food.
@kaldo_kaldo2 жыл бұрын
@@whipcream345 Question, have you eaten food in other countries? Btw, most of the Michelin star restaurants in the British Isles are French. There are as many Chinese restaurants with stars as there are British ones, and the only one with traditional British food is Heston Blumenthal's restaurant, the rest are wacky concept restaurants. You guys are saying it's "never overseasoned" so you can "taste the ingredients", but for me it tastes very underseasoned. IMO putting more things on a plate isn't diversity and complexity, it's confusion. A full English is a complete mess of food that doesn't work well together. The sad thing, I don't love beans (especially not for breakfast) but every full English I've had, the beans are the best part. And as I say that, Heinz Beanz are some of the worst beans I've ever had, they're so damn bland. Sunday roast is fine, but it's pretty difficult to call it British. People roasted vegetables and meat and ate them together long before England ever existed. If people want to say America didn't invent burgers because the Hamburg steak exists - which is constructed very differently and topped very differently, not to mention it must be eaten with a knife and fork and isn't portable - then certainly England can't claim roasted meat and vegetables. Besides, it's not really a dish, like a full English and like many English "dishes", it's just multiple things put together. It's a meal, not a dish - and it's not British.
@kaldo_kaldo2 жыл бұрын
@jake I will say this then: it's not really my thing. I'm not saying anyone else can't like it, I'm sharing my opinion. And I don't think my opinion is wrong, for me. Are there so many bad restaurants in London that I didn't manage to eat at one good one? I tried 30, 35 different places in 2 weeks because I wasn't staying with someone, had to eat out to eat and never hit the same place twice (because I didn't like most of it, why go back?) Comfort food is my favorite food. I don't love gourmet food so England is at a bit of an advantage here. A lot of French dishes I don't like also. I ate at one of Ramsay's restaurants and didn't like it. It's too posh. I'm a big fan of simple foods and big flavors. I like delicate flavors too. England does do some big flavors, like with a full English, but I don't really see delicate flavors much, it's either a lot or basically none. And when it's a lot they're usually flavors that I find conflicting, or textures I find conflicting.
