You mentioned dragons... Purphoros seems like a good companion to Zirilan of the Claw, which has a similar ability. Zirilan can search up dragons from your deck and put them on the battlefield with haste, but exiles them at the end step. Some useful tools in the deck to mitigate end step exile/sacrifice might be be Tel-Jilad Stylus, Erratic Portal, and, for some really spicy tech, Rishadan Pawnshop. There's also some "storage" artifacts to consider, like Cold Storage, Helvault, and Synod Sanctum... though it might behoove you to also consider Altar of Dementia, Ashnod's Altar, and Phyrexian Altar. If Purphoros is a creature, you can equip him with Illusionist's Bracers for double activations (though that might be a bit too ambitious). If you wanted to double down on jank, you could include the hit-and-run Viashino: Viashino Sandstalker, Sandscout, Sandsprinter, and Cutthroat. They already combo nicely with Pandemonium effects. Stack their triggers right and it's like you've got a crack commando team. Oh! Don't forget cards like Planar Portal and Ring of Wishes. They're expensive, but serious value if you can get them going. Just a note, though: Sundering Titan is banned in multiplayer Commander.

I've been experimenting a lot with this guy, I had some success with extra combat steps but I found it to be a little slow going for my taste, dragon tribal had a similar problem though both could definitely hit hard and fast in many games--only problem I kept hitting is running out of cards to play. Ultimately I settled on a very artifact heavy build taking use of extra tutoring capability with Goblin Engineer/Godo/Imperial recruiter/hoarding dragon, and recursion from Deretti/Goblin welder/Trash for treasure, I can use recurring value from simulcrum and heavies like Ancient stone idol, mana doublers like gauntlet of might or planar lens, sundial to keep my stuff -- then fix up either a combo win with sword of feast and famine/aggravated assault, kikijiki and combat celebrant/zealous conscript, but even when I cant set these up the value these continuous stream of artifacts paired with being able to copy tutors or copy wheel creatures with Kikijiki can usually set up a pretty competent board state at least long enough to get to one of these combos if not finish the game the old fashion way. Of course blightsteel, meteor golem, heartless hidetsugu and some other options offer some neat tricks and I'm considering Sundering titan, buried ruin, maybe war's toil to run interference, but I honestly don't know what to cut at this point I think I'd rather just have the Blood moon/magus moon package that's currently included. A fun card to throw in (if you have the money) is zodiac dragon, it's an 8/8 that returns to your hand if it dies

Or conversely, Immortal Phoenix or Shivan Phoenix. Immortal Phoenix was apart of a special set for Core 2020. I just need a way to add a R upon etb or death or something. Get something infinite damage with something like Impact Tremors (or little Purphoros or the like) with Ashnod's Altar then with a phoenix and Purphoros.
