Traditional kabaddi is extremely taxing on the cardio. Technicllay, a runner must speak the words kabaddi, kabaddi, kabaddi, etc. while running. If you stop, you are out. The kabaddi league is the 2nd most popular sport to watch on TV in india, behind Cricket. Now, the really controversy is where did Kabaddi come from, because it's very similar to the Persian game of Zu.

For those that need some background on the wrestler. His name is AJ Ferrari. He's incredibly talented and won the National Championship as a true freshman at Oklahoma State at 197lbs in 2021. He then proceeded to take this fame and was both accused of SA with a woman and also got into a horrific head on car accident after he decided to pass a car going 100+ mph over the top of a hill in a no passing zone. Not only is he lucky to be alive, but he was then cut from Oklahoma State as a result of his actions outside of the sport. He also has a younger brother that was actively being recruited to wrestle at Iowa. The anticipated plan was that AJ would transfer to Iowa (this particular tournament was an Open so he was wrestling unattached to any particular team), but now after these actions it's uncertain if any college is going to want him.

Did he have a head injury from the car wreck? (I'm not trying to be a smartass, I promise.) Some people behave completely different and bizarre after serious head injuries. Both Roseanne Barr and Sam Kinnison were perfectly normal until they each individually suffered head injuries (car wreck/hit by car) in their teenage years. What we've seen from their erratic behavior stems from the brain injuries they suffered. By all accounts, neither one of them were off the charts until their accidents that resulted in brain injuries. Just wondering if that's the case here? Maybe this wrestler is going down the same road as post-concussion Antonio Brown...

The most amusing part of Kabaddi is that the raiding player has to be repeatedly saying the word “Kabaddi.” The idea is that needing to be repeatedly saying it messes with breath control, and also if you have to concentrate on tagging, escaping, AND chanting that’s a bigger mental task.
@apocello42
@apocello42 4 ай бұрын
I believe the idea is that the raider is supposed to hold their breath the entire time they're in the opponents zone. Obviously at a professional level this would be almost impossible to verify so they have to constantly repeat kabaddi so even if you can breath it's very limited.

@@apocello42 Back then Kabaddi was not a professional game like it is now. In the past, when we were playing Kabaddi in our childhood, we used to hold our breath and repeatedly chant "Kabaddi Kabaddi Kabaddi" during every raid. But, It is not practical to chant "Kabaddi" repeatedly and hold your breath at the professional level. So they replaced it with a time limit. Now each raid has a time limit of 30 seconds. That means a raid should be completed within 30 seconds.

@@troybaxter I agree. It's hard to compete with the top league in the game, but these ladies are definitely showing promise. I can't wait to see these teams form an identity and a culture and really get to molding solid strategy and play as the seasons progress. The players, coaches, and league staff all have me convinced that this is a league that is going to produce talent that wants to compete on a top level, as well as a product that people are going to want to go to for entertainment, either as a weekend for the family, or a rowdy night with the crew. I've never been so excited for women's hockey in my life. I've played both hockey and roller derby in my time as a sportsdoer, and I've gotta say, this league has the best of both sports as far as energy goes. The internal women's game hasn't really been my cup of tea for the most part, because games usually devolve into passive defence with very little forechecking. Bringing contact into the women's game really encourages more aggressive forechecking and active defence. It's long overdue because these women have been held back by the rules for too long. To the people that are bringing up the s*xual assault allegations against the wrestler, it seems like y’all don’t understand the part where he is still “innocent until proven guilty.” I hope y’all don’t ever have to go through with what the accused Duke Lacrosse students had to endure. That is, assuming that you now realize that accusations should _NOT_ be treated as facts. If you still wanna treat the wrestler as if he is a r*pist, then I hope you endure EVERYTHING that the accused Duke Lacrosse students had to go through until you _finally_ understand the importance of “innocence until proven guilty.”

He has to be on a team first for that to happen. I don't know if any will be willing to have him after that lack of control. Naturally Iowa would be the place for crazy, poorly tempered wrestlers to go, but he appears too crazy even for them. And yes Aaron Brooks probably could beat him, but Ferrari is still crazy talented, even if he's a loose cannon.
