Between Kyle's putt on 15 and everything Isaac has dealt with, The Preserve alone is argument enough for standardized baskets on the DGPT.
@kimmomatikainen18435 ай бұрын
Whar if standardized baskets are not any better than these? Who sets the standards and what are those? For MVP's baskets with chains in 3 layers are great. Hardly ever spit out from the center. They don't catch well from the outer chains of course, because chains are heavy and that is how it should be in my opinion. Jerm whines a lot in commentaries and I am tired of it. First he kept complaining that if you putt hard to center basket should catch those. Then Kyle putts to outer chains and complains that baskets should catch those. Basket is great in catching from center or better from outer chains. Pick what you prefer. Or let's put a hole in the ground and water there to prevent bounces. As long as there are chains and current looking basket, there will be "spit outs" from chains. Standardization has one problem. If baskets are standards and every manufacturer has to make the same baskets, basket development stops. Why would anyone try to make better baskets anymore, if those are not used unless standards are created again after every 2 years or so.
@matthewclements98935 ай бұрын
@@kimmomatikainen1843 baskets do not necessarily need to get better, rather a standard set so players can learn how they should putt. Whether that standard basket catches everything or only dead center soft putts is a different discussion.

Everyone's playing the tournament on the same baskets. I don't see it differently than so many other variables out there-tee pads, grass length, elevation, temperature, etc. You have to be able to adjust your game to the situation. If your putt only sticks reliably on certain types of baskets, then your putt needs work. And yes, you can absolutely adjust your putt, there's a video somewhere of McBeth at home canning putts on a basket without any chains at all.

Ironic that Isaac's nemesis is his own team's baskets. Must be some resentment brewing, I wonder if Prodigy will finally change them after this. Seeing their name on the baskets as they spit out beautiful putts in slo-mo has to be seriously bad for their brand.

We played the prodigy baskets at all 3 Am Worlds I played, at first I didn't mind them, but after having a few putts spit out I lost my sweet spot in em and really struggled to get it back. It's like if u go just a few inches lower they catch great but then missing low comes in to play alot more and when I miss low and hit the basket is when I seem to always get the weird rolls, especially on any kind of hills. So I guess IMO they aren't the worst baskets but also def not my fav! The other weird thing is hitting the right side of the chains def doesn't stay in as much as the norm yellowtop chainstar baskets, those are they putts I saw come out the most, like edge of the right side chains then bounce on rim and 50/50 in or out... I started aiming like 2 links lower and one chain to the left, then if I missed right it wld norm be high which wld catch. I was also suprised how many putts I saw go thru the chains and out the other side! At the end of the day tho, almost all baskets have a 5%-10% spit rate IMO. I wld say the prodigy baskets w the web like these catch 5%-10% less of my putts, but then the problem is the mental side of shld I putt different or shld I just hope it catches next time or what... Just putt hard if u play on these baskets wpd be my advice, hard low and just a bit left...
@konroh25 ай бұрын
10% spit outs on all baskets? Even here in this coverage we saw an average of 5 players play each basket, that's 90 putts. And did we see 5 spitouts? That's 5.5% And this seemed unusual. I'd say 2-3% considering all the players and all the putts. 1 out of every 10 spitting out is awfully high. One out of 40 is more likely, that's 2.5%
@NickCarroll5 ай бұрын
These Prodigy baskets are good, but they're still the worst on tour. These are probably higher spit rate than the others, and they have kicked back more soft dead-center putts than any other I've seen. Isaac is not a fast spin putter. More of a lofty spush putt most of the times, and that's ideal for most baskets. Not these.

Insane tourney and great coverage yet again. My only two cents for future coverage: if you're going to show chase card playing the very next hole right before the lead card plays it, then why not play the whole breakdown before the check-in? (hole 15 did this) Felt redundant on multiple occasions to finish a hole, watch Matty drop dimes on the following hole, THEN breakdown said hole and watch lead card play it. Especially when Matt was in contention damn near the entire round, 15 just felt smoother in general and I actually had a reason to watch the breakdown. Thanks for coming to my Ted talk.

@name78925 ай бұрын
@@konroh2 I think it’s a huge advantage, because he was able to take a normal stride length instead of a shortened one. 30 seconds, foot faulting in the middle of a field, stepping on your disc/mini are all things that aren’t called because they don’t really matter. This is a clear advantage and should be called
@konroh25 ай бұрын
@@name7892 The point of OB is that you lose a stroke, not that your ability to throw your next shot is penalized. If you throw into OB woods you don't throw from the woods but from where it went OB. The meter rule is there particularly for putting so you have some space to stand to make a putt. The meter is supposed to give you room to take your next shot, if you're running into it you should be able to make your strides. I see your point, but just as you mentioned the rules that aren't always legalistically called this falls in the same category. Most of the time OB is to the sides from where you're throwing so you have space to stride. I think that's the spirit of the rule.
