I literally got chills hearing this!!😲 Jon sings just as good now as he did 50 years ago when 'Close to the Edge' was released. I had this album, and 3 others of theirs, all on 33 1/3 vinyl. The cover art alone, by Roger Dean, was worth the price of the album! Bands like YES, ELP, Jethro Tull, and more, are what got me through high school in the early 70's.😍👍👍👍

From my own experience as a singer: he must certainly work his ass off, to keep that voice the way it is. It's extremely rare for anybody to be able to do this. (Pete Seeger did it, into his 90's. Same range!) You can't imagine the time it takes to maintain your body, in order to sound like this after even 20 years, never mind 50. The aerobics, the daily vocal exercises, the careful tending of the upper respiratory system....and he's had two sinus surgeries. If you think that gave him an unfair edge, think again. I've had the same procedures, and they were excruciating. For weeks after I had them. (Yes, I'd do it again, if necessary; I *have* to sing with every possible color in my paint-box. And bear this in mind, too: he's had asthma that put him in the hospital. That guy is made of STEEL.

His voice has actually gotten better. In the early years his pitch would sometimes not be perfect (listen to the album. Roundabout’s double tracking). He became such a perfect performer & cared for his voice that by the 80’s his sound production got better & better on every vowel, every pitch, every tone. His tone has gotten clear as a bell & continues to be perfect. Absolutely incredible. Beyond incredible.

What becomes more and more obvious, with every passing year, and every new performance, is that the music of Yes is for eternity, like classical music of the last 4 or 5 centuries. I struggle to think of another band for whom you can say that. At least in the sense of performance. Of course, the Beatles will always be appreciated and listened to. But recreating Yes in new, live performances is something rather unique. It's been going on for at least 2 decades now, and it stands out sharply. People want to get together and play this. People want to hear it played. Live. Thanks to all who do this,
