I finally figured out why this version is so deeply moving. He sings it as if he believes it. Because he does believe it. In spite of all the horrors and pain and frightening situations around, somehow he still manages to look at the world and see beauty and wonder, and express it through his voice and his hands. there needs to be a bigger word than "talented" to describe that gift.

I never watch the show on CBS proper, so I don’t know what I’m missing I guess. I always watch the monologue, and maybe one out of 4 guest interviews? They usually uses his face to hide the cuts during the monologues. That's why they always cut to an awkward face of his randomly. But I personally like sidekicks who rarely talk, just are in the background for support. Given that he's not a comedian and is a musician, he's been pretty great in that role.

I'm one song in the Hollywood Africans album, and god damn I'm blown away. I can't remember the last time I've listened to an album with such raw display of musicianship and skills. I don't care if Jon is the best jazz pianist out there, he's one with the most heart. I love this so much.

hearing his breath in the mic at the end with the fading piano chord was the most perfect way to end this masterpiece
