I get so sick of fans comparing Jon and Richie. Can we not just let it rest? Both are strong in different ways and each of their individual strengths combined made something special. They were a team. It still saddens me that they cannot seem to work out their differences, but at least we had 30 amazing years with them together.

His natural hair is much darker. Now it's very gray. He colored it for many years blonde. He did change the blonde shades around. At one point he was very very light golden blonde. One of my fav colors he had was when his hair was dark and he had several shades of blonde streaks From a dark golden to a Very very light golden. I do prefer his hair color lighter then his natutal Dark Brown because of his fair skin color. I'm like him darker hair and fair color skin.

Just as they are two very different voices, I feel like their stage style was also different, which has been more evident since the split. While both total pros, Richie seems more the jam/spontaneous performer, and jbj obviously likes everything choreographed to the "t". And, just as their voices complimented eachother almost beyond any other duo, as did the stage chemistry.

They both compliment each other so well. Together they bring out the best in each others talent. Richie is all soul, gifted to be able to play that guitar and sing so powerfully. He was without douth the back bone of Bon Jovi. Jon too has a fantastic voice and is probably the better at being a front man. But without Richie, Bon jovi would never have become as big as they did. I still go to see them and they are excellent, but you would miss richie and his talent, like I said the back bone of the band. I would to see the 2 together again.

Jon didnt know Richie was leaving. Richie just plain didnt show up for a performance and that was his final choice being a member of the BonJovi brotherhood band. He is really missed. He has a strong voice, is an outstanding guitarist and songwriter. He made his legend after 30yrs with BJ. He is not too bad as a solo performer but wants to spend more time with his daughter. Jon has been graceful these past years not saying one thing negative about his Jersey Boy. Jon is a TRUE gentleman and professional. Jon and the current BonJovi band are still performing now since the Pandemic seems to be leaving and people are getting vaccinated. Amazing to be performing all these years. He didn't have a choice. Richie just didn't show up to a concert they were on your. Richie had very valid reasons for leaving. He knew if he heard Jon's voice he would have caved maybe. Richie had to choose between the job or his daughter and his need to help himself get away from the evils of the job. He needed to just stop and get clean. He missed most of his daughter's childhood. She was grown pretty much. It hurt Jon and the fans but just like Steve Perry leaving journey. Sometimes it just has to happen.

Jon's voice was magic until he destroyed it with the mega-tour. I'm glad I got to see them live before his voice got destroyed. His lower keyed songs work now and his voice is still very distinct but when he tries to hit any somewhat high not now, I just cringe. I was a young teenager at the time I saw them and that's when I found my appreciation for Richie's vocals. Been a Sambora fan ever since and never failed to purchase a Sambora record until Orianthi. Won't ever purchase another Bon Jovi record unless Richie comes back.

No such thing as comparison with Richie and Jon. Richie is a much better musician and vocalist then Jon hands down. Listen to Jon’s demos before his Bon Jovi days and you will have a different opinion on Jon’s singing. Anyone can sound good in the studio or with engineering effects to help you live. Richie was the real deal both singing and live. Without mr sambora, Bon Jovi would have been a one hit wonder.

I wouldn’t say Richie is a better singer. These days and for quite a few years now he’s been the stronger vocalist. Being a lead singer for as long as Jon has been has taken its toll. Smoking does not help. Richie seems to still have the same range he’s always had. But I can’t stand some of the liberties he takes with the melodies. When you hear him sing I’ll Be There For You you’ll definitely understand. Not to mention he’s the consummate show-off. He’s always adding little noodling bits on the guitar especially on acoustic guitar. Sometimes it doesn’t make a lick of sense. Ya see what I did there? Lick. Anyway, I think it was more the direction of the music that pushed him away. The last album was What About Now and it didn’t have anything that really rocked. Not like Thorn in My Pride or Bullet from the previous album, Circle. He seemed to have very little to do with the writing, when at one point it seemed like it was he and Jon on every record co-writing each song. Basically from Slippery through to The Circle. Keep the Faith had more solo written songs by Bon Jovi, but still more than half were co-written. On the deluxe version of What About Now, Sambora has only 5 credits. That’s the reason he left.

And he can take liberties with the melodies because most of them are half his. He is not a show-off any more than Jon is. When he has his opportunities to perform, he has his own style, just like Jon does. His version of I'll Be There For You is absolutely perfect and when you put that solo (improvised and fans love it!) with it, it is unmatched by Jon!

Richie has his own style, his voice is more "bluesy". But I think Jon is certainly the right front man. Richie has a great personality, but I'm not sure he'd have what it takes to hold an audience for two or three hours, whereas Jon has that charisma. And I think that was deliberate, I think they got together and decided what sound they wanted to produce and worked hard to produce it. Richie’s first solo album was great and had not went back to Bon Jovi he would have been fine on his own. Richie was so talented even before Bon Jovi came out. I had one of Jon’s demo tracks before he even became famous and let me tell you jon couldn’t sing for crap. He was nothing but a pretty face behind a microphone. If Richie was given a chance to shine by singing some lead songs in Bon Jovi I bet the numbers would have even doubled if not more with Richie singing some songs. Jon didn’t want to share the spotlight because had he done so there probably would have been more fights on Jon’s jealousy. Jon’s dad and family were nothing more then making Bon Jovi their corporate entity to enrich themselves in more and more money. Between that and I am sure Richie didn’t agree with Jon on his liberal stance being friends with killary Clinton didn’t make matters better between their friendship. That was Jon’s biggest mistake was supporting an evil socialist where Richie knows he was better off to keep politics out of the music arena. Goes to show Jon truly is an anchovie and stinks like one lol 😂

Some of the best songs were written by Jon alone. I prefer Jon’s voice. Anyone who says that Jon has no emotion in his voice isn’t listening. When Jon was at the height of his singing, he was better than Richie. He also had more range than Richie.

And now shall we count the songs that wouldn’t have existed without Richie? For a start it’s well documented Jon didn’t want prayer (their biggest ever song) on the album and took Richie to convince him the song was good enough for the album
