I dont think he has high fight IQ and never have believed as such, he has a long reach is all He simpley gets more options than other people because he has a longer reach, that doesn't make him smarter it just means he has a natural advantage that almost no one else has Notice how other fighters we hold in similar regard also have long arms (Isreal Adesanya and Anderson Silva) we also say they have high fights IQ really its just comes down to having more tools at your disposal. If one carpenter has better and more various tools than another carpenter it doesnt mean that theyre a better carpenter. It just means they can do a lot more with the extra tools.
@httohot4 жыл бұрын
The minute he fights someone with similar reach is the moment that he gets real competition. The last Reyes vs Jones fight was so contested not because Reyes is amazing or because Jones got worse, its because for the first time Jones could no longer get away with half the shit he does because he doesnt have the same reach advantage. It was contested because people are soooo infatuated with the idea of a unbeatable fighter they ignore everything else, including the details For the average human, perceptions >reality, its nicer to think that Jones is the best because of high fight IQ, but its obvious why he wins so much, drugs and long arms

Jons signature and strongest move is always his opponents greatest weakness. Too bad he fucked his legacy up because he was by far the most skilled fighter I have ever seen in 30+ years of MMA

Yeah but Chuck Liddell isn’t a total douche and he didn’t do any hit and runs with his car and run back to get a bag of cash. Jones is just a total jackass. Sure he’s gifted. But he’s just so hard to like as a person. Much harder to like even than Tyson. And I think Tyson had more raw talent anyway.

whether you like him or not, he knows and understand his mind so well. the things he does, the relaxing before the fight to kill the anxiety believing he has an excuse if he loses, suffering from anxiety and not only learning to control it, but channel it into success- however you feel about this fighter, he is amazing.

Jon seems like a very likable guy who is highly intelligent and is often misunderstood. The more I study footage of him, the clearer the picture I get of what kind of man he is. He's always learning and his hard work has/is paying off. I believe he will get better with age.

Actually, that's a really good explanation for why he has such a history of trouble with PED's. My guess is he is drawn to those to bolster against his anxiety, and to give him every last little advantage he can get. He does not take winning for granted. And, with a lot of anxious types, you find that for them, losing is scarier than death.

He's never been a particularly fast fighter. Even back when he was young he was fairly average in terms of speed, he just had excellent timing and was very explosive. He hasn't had the best performances recently and I presume it has more to do with the competition at LHW catching up to him. He is much less explosive now especially with his takedowns, but the timing, strength and skill is still there.

*claps* This was pure genius WOW! I’m blown away! You nailed it! I used to think long and hard about jon jones and finally one day the answer came. What separates Jon from every other ufc fighter. “ Intelligence and creativity” he has a mind set similar to GSP, GSP was intelligent extremely , wise and a hard worker and they both are martial artist but jon has added creativity to the game. You can imagine how new and crazy it was to see a guy making up moves and borrowing moves using them in fights actually was doing the beginning of jones. But you know what is really interesting before Jose lost and he said this during his peak as champion somebody asked him to what was the greatest skill in ufc to have and he said “I think creativity will be the next thing, the next level, but traditional is also important”

That knee stomp came from Bruce's JKD. It's application was for reality-based, non-sport scenarios. It's devastating, but for MMA purposes, and for its execution by Bones, it just becomes that much better. You can even see Bruce taunting/feinting Chuck Norris in their fight at the coliseum. For the movie, it looked great, as it should for Bruce's style. However applied in MMA and even non-MMA scenarios, successful results will always prevail.
