I've seen this a few times and I'm like 'they're wearing earplugs or something' but that would make it so much worse cuz what if the other guy fucked up and you just continued? Just listened to Rory Scovel on the Good One podcast, he talks about this. The whole thing was Jon's idea, but Rory said it wasn't scripted and he's just riffing and trying not to listen to Jon or he gets messed up. All he knew he had to do was talk until Jon gets the guitar, then bring up someone from the audience, then as soon as he smashes it, get them out of there. Nothing more than that was planned. Guess things just happen to line up in fun ways since comedy is so much about timing and rhythm
