Just because a person works in a professional setting doesn't mean they can't harbor a dislike of others. It’s vital that everyone be treated equally. It seems that Gruden’s emails were cherry picked and that’s a big problem. If you’re going to expose his emails it seems that you must expose everyone’s. The emails were also over a decade old when released. Meanwhile, Goddell protecting owner Dan Snyder of the Redskins to take the heat off the franchise. Wonder why the NFL hasn't been transparent and released all 650,000emails??? They're fighting like crazy to keep them out of public domain...NFL selectively targeted Gruden & they should be held accountable for it! Gruden had ZERO to do with the TOXIC nature of the Redskin organization.

They put a hit on Gruden because it was so easy. No one is saying Gruden was framed; he absolutely sent those emails. However bad the emails were, they were sent long before he was the Raiders HC so the NFL did not have a legal reason to fire him. I agree that it was a distraction to focus attention away from Snyder.

Since this story may never be brought up again, I have to give my theory on the timing of the document release. I believe the NFL released the documents when they did so that they could get a few more years of “going against” the bend and then break negotiating style of Demaurice Smith. If you look back in the week leading up to the release there are several stories saying he was out, the players had done a preliminary vote, they’d had enough. This Gruden stuff comes out slandering him, and I believe he was re-elected that weekend. It’s the only time specific variable. If they wanted to do something to Gruden, they had this, why wait until week 3?

I just checked the political affiliations of the two judges who ruled in favor of the NFL. One is a Democrat and the other is a Republican. The 3rd judge has no party affiliation. @Mike Florio

He’s not saying every judge is going to decide things down party lines on every single issue. His point is that judges are likely to have biases that coincide with their political affiliations, just like every human does. People for the most part are influenced by what their beliefs are.

I don't really see the NFL's motivation in singling out Gruden and thereby possibly damaging the league's own reputation. I think it was much more likely that the leaks were by a Snyder flunkie acting on Snyder's direction in retaliation for him being pressured to give up ownership.

Why would Snyder go after Jon Gruden? Also, why would they release some on a Friday, & after Jon Gruden doesn’t resign by Monday, release more? Then after Gruden Resigned, nothing else is leaked. How does any of that benefit Snyder? All he would have accomplished was pissing off another Owner in Mark Davis, who has a vote to kick Snyder out. Whomever leaked them, specifically wanted Jon Gruden out of the NFL, that’s not Snyder, based on everything that we know. I don’t think any of us are naive enough to think, there weren’t as bad or worse emails on that server that would end someone else’s career.

I feel like if Gruden wanted to prove he realizes he was wrong and proving that he's no longer a racist, then trying to sue was not the way to go about it. Accepting the outcome as what he deserves would be a start, and then maybe like working with inner city youth programs as a path to redemption. And, not for nothing, but, I feel like everyone, everywhere, knows, today, and even 8 years ago, that EVERYONE in the company is reading your company emails..... If you ever worked in IT, you knew the guys in IT saw everything... they knew everything... You took those guys to lunch all the time, and stayed on their good side, and listened when they talked, because they SAW EVERYTHING..... Point being, DON'T put ANYTHING in a company email that you don't want literally everyone reading...... Now, Mike, you seem to wanna make a big deal out of the politics... I'm not sure you're beating the NFL... they buy who they need, and they seem to get their way no matter what.... the arbitration clause is a perfect example.... and your marriage analogy is hilarious... any disputes, WE will arbitrate... which to me is very silly.... At the very least, you'd like to maintain the "appearance of due diligence", to some degree... so you find some "independent" arbitrator, leave a few briefcases full of Benjamin's in their office, and say yeah, look, you guys will "arbitrate" our cases.... and when all the cases go your way, you can say "hey, what?!?!??! That was an independent arbitrator!!!! don't look at ME!!!!" No, but to me, more telling is, over the years, I've had people tell me "Gruden was offered a settlement.... But he wants to go to court and blow the lid off...." and one friend of mine in particular said "that's probably a mistake. You're never beating the NFL and their monolithic line of high priced lawyers, to say nothing of the behind the scenes shenanigans.... Take your settlement and go...." And it looks like he was right. Presumably, Gruden could have taken a settlement back to his unbelievable Tampa Mansion, and chilled out.... Now he's gonna get nothing....
