Hi jon, if you read this comment I wanted to let you know that you composed a piece of music that I will no longer be able to do without for the rest of my life, every now and then I have to come back here, close my eyes and press play, I wanted to give you my most sincere compliments. Bravoooo 😉

I’m 52 years old. Once quite busily involved in music. Jon, Nils Frahm, Ólafur Arnalds, these three have created music I feel that I’ve been waiting for all my life. Inspirational. For the first time in 25 years, I have a piano. Now I’m off to buy an eBow so that I can rekindle that particular passion, with a little inspiration from this beautiful Guardian Session. Thanks The Grauniad 😉 Thanks Jon.

These 3 are also in my top 5 favorite artists/composers. Add to that list Max Richter and the film composer Hans Zimmer, and you have a lifetime of profoundly moving music to comfort you, in good times and bad.

for years surrounded by (supposedly) top artists (electronic scene) and those considered respectful... they only make noises and hide themselves after effects, and sequences... they can´t play a single chord, this young man does better with just one track

This song is actually my favourite song of all time, when I ask others to listen they think it's strange and they don't like it, it makes me feel sad, but young, heartbroken but happy

There is breathtaking new music on KZbin from places like Iceland that are perhaps remote, at least psychologically, for some listeners. I'm shocked to find I'm the only "like" for some composers. It's sad that so much real talent isn't getting noticed.

Jon hopkins inspired me to start making music myself. Then he inspired me to quit making music, as i learned just how amazingly good what he does is and that i will never make anything like that myself. Not even if i devote all my free time to it. So now i'm back to just listening, but with a heightend sense of appreciation for music.

Couldn't agree more. His recent EP (Asleep Versions) is utterly wonderful and here he is breaking things down even further. Additionally, I find almost no one can remix his music to any great benefit as he's obviously crafted the originals to within an inch of their lives. His talent, it would appear, just keeps on going.
