If you hit a wrong note, it's the next note that you play that determines if its's good or bad. Miles Davis ;)

That's what I love about these improv sessions. Not fully formed ideas, more of expressions of feelings. This man's soul is very very deep.

If you go to his site, you'll see that he muted the piano so as not to bother his neighbour (seriously), and he spent a great deal of time and effort on 'Felt' to achieve a balance between the piano strings and other sounds - the wood floor, etc. Felt sounds like there's some sort of mechanical device being played as well - like an old music box or typewriter, but it's just the nuance of the piano... amazing...

This guy is a genius, his logic of composing and improvisation is beyond this world. Maybe it sounds a bit cheesy but I am automatically interpolating music I hear when I listen to this vid on some of the parts of my life and it kinda opens up another angles of view at some situations and brings some unexpectedly good and deep thoughts. I wish I could attend his concert in future.

This improvisation does not sound like one, even though he messed up on one note. I saw Nils live in my little town and his performance was mesmerizing and memorable. I loved his performance so much that I bought two physical albums at the venue after the show. His album Screws has become my favorite nighttime album and soon to be my favorite overall!

Nils Frahm est un enchanteur, d'un simple toucher, il touche à l'essentiel de l'âme humaine. Un son aérien qui crée en moi l'émotion. Je le qualifie tout comme je le fais d' Arvo Part de génie de la composition musicale. Bravissimo

I was introduced to Nils Frahm by friends who have seen him live, and I think his improvisation here is truly amazing! As his fans appreciate improvisation so much, I thought I'd share this link purely because it's so hard for it to be found otherwise.... What Was Relaxation? - Piano Instrumental (thanks/apologies!)

Heard years ago, this is so good, you have to stop everything else around you what is sometimes difficult but new normal may help! So intense, so clear, so obvious how real music is made - made it's kind of handcrafted to say!!! And that's important, most important over all, not handmade no soul!!!

Beautiful. Kind of miss the intimacy of Nils' gigs back in 2011 (went to one in London, for ~50 people). Happy he now performs in front of 1000s but you can't beat those gigs... the bit after 1:46 is just sublime
