His ability to explain his technique is amazing. Not many athletes can do that.

I disagree. Every fighter is taught a specific, precise series of movements "fighting system". They have to know precisely the how, when, when not, were, why, why not, what movements can be next under what situation, at what distance. Boxing and mma are applied sciences like an expert and experienced successful psychiatrist for example. Theres a compendium of information broken down into single elements but that flows a series of precise movements that have specific features such as movements always allowing you to be incomplete control of your body. That aren't just offense or defense. Offense is woven into defense. An example is head movement in boxing. Aside from when fighting out of the philly shell stance. There are 2 types of head movement. A slip and a bob n weave (actually theres also a bob) but each go perfectly together as a series of movements. The slip is / or \ bending only at the lower back and core and is meant to avoid straight shots although if times properly slips can be effectively used against hooks although its dangerous unless perfectly timed because you could get clipped in the back of the head. The bob n weave looks like a U and theres a sequence of footwork with a jab to get close then the bob n weave punching off of it but i wont explain this is too long already. Anyways the bob n weave is more designed to use inside and you stay as upright as possible (always being in a position to stay in control of your body) and its all in bending at the legs/knees as youre never off balance and you bob n weave under a punch while simultaneously loading up like a coil to use kinetic linking to go from say the right, down and come up on the left with a left hook (you never come up on the left with a right hook because even if you dont miss you'll literally open your entire right side to your opponent and be out of position). You can see if you go from slipping to bobbing and weaving that they go together like pb @ j lol! Canelo is a fighter who comes to mind who uses the slips and bob n weaves stringing them together excellently. Anyways, my old coach (rip djata) taught me all of this and a whole lot more which is why i can visualize it and explain it. Oh and a big mistake some make is throwing the straight right hand like a pitcher throwing a ball using forward momentum as well as another huge mistake which is attempting to get close with the hands instead of the feet. Falling forward with the back foot is a big no no (unless youre an expert in the above fundamentals and techniques of the philly system of fighting like the Mayweathers are (i know there from grand rapids but trust me they all learned the philly system which is the best system in the world that about 90% of the best learned) anyways there are different methods of throwing the 1, 2 in correlation with different types of footwork. Ones to jab with the step of the front foot then immediately gliding your back foot back into position and as its close to back in position you twist the foot and use that snap twist from the ground up. Another is when youre chasing an opponent down you step with the jab and pick your back foot up and scuff it into the canvas like putting out a cig as you throw the straight right. Its a way to anchor your back foot to prevent you from falling in and so you can use kinetic linking. The straight right is thrown exactly like a hook with the only difference being what your arm does which confuses alot of people and is hard at first to master.

But not the bullshit type of therapy - IFS Prof Richard Schwarz - Do it yourself method, (but sometimes a tehrapist helps), and we can all do with some healing.
