😂😂😂 it’s mma not boxing. Forward progress, aggression, and takedowns all count for points also. In rounds he was out struck he still controlled the center of the cage POINTS, he still got takedowns POINTS, and he also pushed the tempo only getting hit with counter strikes cuz Reyes kept backing up n countering. Some of y’all don’t understand mma and only argument is strikes landed.

I've enquired for an MMA judging course here in Blighty as for the past 4 years the decisions have been getting worse... and all the competitors who give their all deserve judges to get a correct decision. A bad decision can change the trajectory of ones career and could mean the difference between poor and rich.... getting the wrong scoring from a judge *is not* acceptable in my eyes

49-46 was blasphemous, but 48-47 in Jon’s favor was the right call. I don’t see why people are complaining this much. The other fight where the judge scored 30-27 against Martinez was the real travesty. It actually affected the outcome greatly and lost the man this fight.

Jon's defense is still on point for sure, he was dodging and blocking so many strikes. I think Jon landed the overall hardest hits too.. even in rounds Dominick won, Jon landed some bombs.

Just rewatched the fight. No commentary and no crowd reactions. I scored it Round 1: reyes (pretty much nullified Jones game and made Jones chase him not pressure but chase) Round 2: draw (Reyes had that flurry of shots but 90% of which missed or were blocked, Jones controlled the pace and pressured Reyes). Round 3: draw (Reyes connects with some good shots actually wouldn’t really argue if Reyes wins this round) Round 4: Jones (best round back and fourth but I’d say Jones won due to pressure and some nice connected shots) Round 5: Jones (takedowns for Jones, Reyes slowed down significantly, Jones was easily able to edge the w for this round)

Hey guys does anyone ever consider that Jones is by now an open book for a new up and comer to study? So, it's easier for new guys to have a chance to exploit him. And also that Jones is based way harsher on his fights due to his past history of fights? What if it were two new guys? Results would be analyzed differently and then who would be considered the winner? And would Dom seem so sore in losing? Who knows. Another thing to note was that Bones was almost always pushing Reyes back who was seemingly out of the center of the octagon.

Dominic Cruz said it at the end of the fight. The WRESTLING was important and awarded in the point system because it aided in draining Reyes’s energy. It contributed greatly to Reyes gassed performance in the 4th and the 5th. It doesn’t matter that he didn’t advance position after the take down. It matters that Jon’s will of shooting a takedown was stronger than Reyes’s will to stop it. Any offensive tool used should render a score, if it was effective. That includes tiring your opponent by making him get back to his feet.
@alyx1715

Those takedowns are what gassed Reyes. Coming into the 5th Reyes was done. Had there been a 6th round it's hard to argue that reyes wouldnt have been finished.

They need more judges. Like maybe 7. They could throw out the two scorecards on either ends of the spectrum and go with the 5 remaining scorecards in the middle. That would keep these scorecards from being all over the place. They need to change something.

Not only did Jones have a better percentage but i think it clearly shows Jon landed cleaner and avoided the majority of damage from Reyes shots. Jon knows how to absorb shots so well with leaning away from them and still had center control.

I think the best thing considering the circumstances is Reyes NOT REMATCH JON IMMEDIATELY. Jon is at his peak and simply isn't going to grow per fight like REYES WILL....Reyes is still in the learning/growing stage. If I'm Reyes….Im fighting two matches and want to see Jon in a little over a year from now...imo, that's his best move.

Agreed on the takedown. Lunging at a tired fighter and taking him down, with no control, no damage, and then he's back up again... that's not good wrestling. In my view, any fighter who can continuously pop back up, neutralizing the effort every time, deserves a greater score than the cow-tipping fighter.
