My DM wrote his own OSRIC modules and felt the same. He loved D&D before WoTC ruined it. Unfortunately, he recently passed away, so people like your good self are a god send to the crap churned out by Mercer and his cohorts and the whole woke brigade that have poisoned the game

To be fair. I hate that I am the one to say "oh wizards of the Coast are woke bullshitters" in reality I don't care what people want to do or want to identify as, I really couldn't care less, life is life right! We do what we do to get by, simple! What really gets me is that D&D was ALWAYS for the disenfranchised, those outside the mainstream bullshit of fashion following or being "cool". Let's be honest, I was an arsehole in the 80's, I spent my time at football (soccer) in the UK and followed all the hooligan bullshit thinking it was cool and the way to be. But, and this is the thing, when I met my (so called nerd friends) to play D&D, it didn't matter, they were cool with me and vice versa. Now, when you try to game with people, they are looking for reasons to ostracise you or vilify you! And if you dare to call it out, well you are the arsehole, you're the bag guy. I literally had to leave a recent online game as those same nerds and weirdos felt it OK to accuse me of being some sort of bigot and actually sought reasons to demonise me. It's a sad fact but I totally felt that if I was in a room with these people, I would have lived up to their negative stereotype and bashed their heads!!!
