Jon Robyns, Lily Kerhoas, Joe Griffiths-Brown in Phantom London!

In honor of London's 37th anniversary today, an audio of the current company! This was from the end of their first week of shows back in August 2023. There is another audio on here available of the same cast, but you can never have too many of this cast! I really am loving this company; Lily makes a wonderful Christine. Also lovely to see more diversity in the principal company in Joe and Maiya.
Also a note that there is some debate on whether the production should still be following the original number of years since the reopening. I know the same debate exists with Les Miz. The latter definitely should start a different run considering it is a completely different show; Phantom definitely is much closer to the original than the current Les Miz is to the original. But regardless, 37 years is what Phantom London continues to go by so that's what I'll stick with.

This cast has got to be my favourite ever, Raoul is just so UGHH PERFECT! So glad I got to see it live… but I wish there where a professional recording of it so I could rewatch it forever

Jon has really poured his heart and soul into this role. His tone variations, the depth within his inner conflicts. Can’t speak highly enough about his take on the phantom. Wishing he could somehow stay forever at Phantom London 🥺❤️

I saw them Thursday! They were absolutely amazing! I love all of their voices, especially Joe Griffiths-Brown! And Jon Robyn’s acting, he was so emotional! And Lily Kerhoas has a beautiful voice as well!

Y’know what a lot of people don’t talk about the auctioneer in the beginning he was basically screaming towards the end it was hilarious (every other auctioneer I’d seen did it so silently like “a little illumination… gentlemen..” I absolutely love Jon Robyns as the phantom he’s the one I watched and he was aggressive and angelic at the same time, me and my sis where talking about it after we watched the musical we were like “that guy had such a good voice like Jesus”

its so weird how in only a few parts the orchestra sound very tiny and it’s in the bits where you expect it to to go big if that’s makes sense especially in motn parts I’ve noticed rest of it sounds fine like before lockdown I csnt wait for the 40th anniversary I bet it’s gonna be huge

That’s because when the show reopened after lockdown they got rid of half the orchestra and scaled down the set a little bit. It’s a shame. I saw it on Broadway before it closed down and on the west end a few weeks ago. The changes were definitely noticeable.

Since reopening, maybe a few months into it, London really seems to rush through many scenes. I don’t really know why and I think it’s gotten to the point where it can hinder performances. The last time I saw it on broadway they purposely conducted it a bit slower to give the performers time to sing it with meaning.

Just saw them tonight and unfortunately Lily didn't sound great in the first act but she sounds better here! Jon, Joe, and Matt were definite highlights though.

I think Lily might be a bit run down this week. Right now they have 3 Christine’s with Paige no longer alternate and Eve is away on holiday. I believe I saw that Lily had done 7 shows in a row (when 6 is the norm for principals) and also was at the Big Night of Musicals yesterday. Typically she’s very good!

Since reopening, maybe several months in, this seems to be the new London norm. I wish they’d slow a bit to really let the actors sing with more meaning, not rush through. Though the actors still are doing a wonderful job even with a faster pace.

That seems to be the norm these days. My guess is that they want to shorten the show overall to cut costs? I saw a touring production of Les Miz 10 years ago and the singer barely finished their last note before it rushed into scene change which felt very unsettling.

I saw the show last week , Jon is phenomenal as Phantom, was out of this world. Raul hasn't a very charismatic presence on stage but his voice make it up because damn..is so on point! BUT Christine wasn't Lily, was the alternative one, Chumisa...and tho' she has a nice voice and technique, she lacked chemistry with the phantom, stage presence, passion and expression (both on singing and posture). I was disappointed by this. I definitely want to see Lily next time with the same cast
