That ending always breaks my heart for some reason. I like to think that Talbain did finally show up that night as a wolf, picking up the sleeping children and putting them to bed. For as much as the darkness may call to him, his inner humanity and love for those innocent and helpless wins out. It sounds weird, but this little sequence is the very reason I try with all my powers to never break a promise to a child.

They’re his adoptive children since they call him John rather than dad. I wonder what a sequel game would lead to?

Jon and Donovan were both cursed with a monstrous side, but for all Donovan’s talk of Darkstalkers being wretched that need to be killed, Jon ultimately succeeded where he failed, he kept his humanity, not through hunting down others but through discipline and compassion.
