Jon Stewart is a blessing to comedy and as a newsman. He was what I always wanted to see out of the professional news channels. They just don’t have the ethics to report the news the way the daily show did under Jon or Trevor.

@@justinpitcock5312 noah has had the show for years and is now being pushed out because he can't drive the ship only sink it. And Oliver has a show on hbo and Samantha bee if she isn't american is a Canadian and that's pretty much the same thing. Also she has a show.

I can tell that to some extent Jon isn't proud of himself and wishes he could have done more sooner. I think we are all just grateful we have a powerful voice like his and I hope we can be inspired by his efforts

I used to sit there in hs watching the daily show with Jon Stewart at 15 not knowing shit or caring about politics or anything. but the fact that he made politics funny was what kept me coming back to watch every week before going to sleep for school. I was sad when he left the show definitely wasn’t the same after that.

Can't find that clip on KZbin anymore. At least I can't. That is a real shame, that was a beautiful moment. It is moments like those that demonstrate the value of Artists in our world. They can articulate emotions in such a way that it helps us deal with the complex tragedies of life. It is such a shame that it didn't last. That feeling of unity as we tried to help each other up afterward. It is a shame it took something so devastating to allow that feeling to exist in the first place. We are so far apart now; if 9/11 happened today, and the North Tower was filled with Democrats and the South Tower filled with Republicans. Across the country, each party would forgo mourning as their tower fell to instead continue celebrating the fact the tower did.

I'd rewatch that bit a lot. And two things that always stood out to me was 1, the story Jon shared being a kid when MLK died. And 2 the expression of the freedom we have. I was a little kid also when 9/11 happened. I was 4, being in Pre k. I remember the teachers acting a bit off counting all of us a lot. And they asked us to gather our stuff from the cubbies and to sit in the center of the room the rug. Because our parents would be picking us up soon and we'd get to leave school early. I think they put on some VHS tape to calm us until we were all picked up. Of course I never fully understood the severity of the day. And Jon expressing the freedom and privilege he has to do the show he does. I love that bit because it's why I love America. Despite our flaws our shortcomings sometimes mal leadership, despite the division we can have. Despite it all I still find this country so beautiful for what it allows us to do and be. We can grow to be the person we want you, you can openly express how you feel good or bad. It's a privilege to have the opportunity to speak openly and be heard. Because other places regiment so much you loose that self identity, you can lose your voice when you want to speak up. Here we are allowed to have that privilege. Take all the noise of arguments who's right who's wrong, bad decisions leadership etc etc. Put that all to the side, to me America is still the land of opportunity. That if you have a dream you have the right the privilege to hold ontu it, work hard for it and earn yourself that. Despite all our flaws I'd never stop loving this beautiful country. And Jon speaking is a beautiful example of such.
