The Mars Volta's greatest misstep was losing JT behind the kit.

I really liked the Bedlam in Goliath album with Thomas Pridgen because the drums are just bonkers... But they were definitely way better with Jon. I saw them live with both Jon and Thomas and they were way better with Jon. Thomas Pridgen's drumming was too crazy and all over the place for the rest of the band to keep up with live.

Absolutely, but I feel like their biggest mistake was ever closing shop on At the Drive In. They were poised to be the next Nirvana instead of being the next “next Nirvana” like Jawbreaker and Failure and so many others. By the way, if you’re a fan of Jon Theodore and haven’t watched any of the One Day as a Lion set footage…do it, you won’t regret it.
