Thank you for lifting me up. I was so down after 11/5/24. I cried half the day but, I will beleive in GOD'S will and hope for the best. To be truthful, my heart is Broken but still beating.

Jonah did not recognise that he resembled the Ninevites - he refused God (disobedience) and ran away. They (the Ninevites) were in trouble because they disobeyed God. We also do not recognise that we resemble the people we oppose by refusing to love them (they very probably refuse to love us) - even though God requires us to love. So, really, we want God to treat us differently than He treats our "enemies" and find it hard to accept that our disobedience is not different than their's. This is the human tendency: using different math to assess our faults and our "enemies' " faults. How hard it is to accept that God loves you as much as He loves me. At the end of the book, Jonah is still brooding over the "unfairness" of it all. Thank you for the Cornel West quote, Rev. Thorne!

Well said! And it really is a book filled with so much more than just a story about a big fish!

The election is over, some of us don't like the result but the God who loves us will walk us through the next 4 years. We're not going to be swallowed up by any big fish, thanks be to God.
