I think Nick is so close with his parents because he spent a lot of time with them early on in his life due to his career when his brothers weren't really involved & then the diabetes really made his parents worry & want to pay extra attention.

I never listened to the Jonas Brothers growing up. It wasn't until after Joe got with Sophie (who I absolutely adored) that I checked out their music. I really enjoyed the "Happiness Begins" album, but not anything before that.

I don't know... Kev was their first born and gave them grandchildren first, that holds a special place in a parents heart lol. Actually the biggest competition to him would be Frankie because he's the baby. I think Nick always seemed like the mama's boy though whereas from what I remember (used to be a huge fan, still am a fan but I don't follow their lives as much as I did as a teen) Kevin seemed closest with their dad and Joe and Frankie had a special relationship so everyone had their familial other half outside the band.
