Jonathan Ball Publishers pulls the plug on Herman Mashaba book

Jonathan Ball Publishers has announced it's pulling the plug on ActionSA leader Herman Mashaba's unauthorised biography, ‘The Outsider’ was authored by political analyst Prince Mashele. It has since emerged that Mashaba in fact funded the book himself contrary to Mashele's initial claims. This has opened up questions around the writing and publishing of the biography. Booksellers Association of South Africa's Melvin Kaabwe weighs in.

The more controversial, the more appealing, the more enxiety the more we wanna see, what's inside, and the more possible copies to be sold. It's possible that all the contradiction and counters are all part of the game for this book. Prince says he will withdraw the book, but it's already in Amazon selling like hot cakes😅

This guest has an axe to grind against Prince Mashele. He casts doubt or dismisses every point that favours him. The big spend simply shows that Prince Mashele is not only a good author but he is also a good businessmen.

It's another failed project of White Supremacists, same as that of Maimane. Prince is just a stooge of WMC. He is just happy with money he never worked. That's WMC do. It's an underhand money. I would be surprised if the Boerdebond did not write the book themselves but only use Prince name as the author.

This is all politics, this publisher did not recall the Patrice Motsepe book and Oppenheimers book which they all funded with their own money, Mashaba made a mistake by using a black author in a million Rand book, the rest used white authors and journalist hence the whole establishment got mad

The guy is lying. Black like you wasn't published in the last 3 years. It was published 11 years again it's an Autobiography by Mashaba. Capitalist Crusader is not a book about Mashaba it's his own book he wrote about his love for Capitalism and how he used the system to get out of poverty as a 23 year old businessman and it was published 8 years ago

Where are black publishers? We've seen a barrage of questions around this book while former Eskom CEO's book dropped lask week without criticism or questions. My suspicion is that it contained DA secrets. Wake up Africans and smell the coffee. The nation deserved to read the book and judge for themselves on its contents

Why are you ignoring all the information just to support your suspicion of racial controversy even when it is not relevant. The book cannot be said to be unauthorized which will obviously have impact if the subject saw and reviewed the input before publishing. The Publisher is open to lawsuits so they have chosen to preempt that and withdraw. Look beyond the colour and focus on the facts

Surely the differences are clear and obvious - why call it an unauthorised bibliography when it clearly was not. Why lie about how the book came about. Why not disclose the facts.
