No. He failed in Dunk League 2 to make it on 11'8." He doesn't have the length and his vert has maxed out. Still one of the best dunkers ever, but he will never dunk on a 12 foot hoop.

Trixz Slapz it's hardly a living. I don't know how much they make now but back when I was in their camp, the average rookie contract was just $700/wk. Those guys were on the road 10 months out of the year. 11-8 is probably typical for the average leaper these days. I dunked on an 11-5 goal in 1990. I didn't go any higher because I was tired from all the attempts at lower heights. I was not training when the competition came about and I was an average Joe working a regular job when I got involved. The world record at that time was only 11-7. A few months after the competition, I did a 360 on an 11-2 goal just for fun at my local rec center. Most of the guys who do this kind of stuff are just like me. There's no real "living" to be made so, again, take a look at Michael Wilson's clip if you want to see a 12 foot attempt. It still counts.

Belicose777 but you got to admit you can only get those hops if you have good genetics, not just training alone.
@Belicose777
@Belicose777 6 жыл бұрын
Edwin Benony well genetics determine essentially every natural bodily process, INCLUDING how well your body responds to training. So yes you're right. Some guys have no hops, get in the gym, lift and practice jumping and develop crazy verts. Jordan Kilganon is a guy that explicitly said he wouldn't be anywhere near where he's at without getting in the gym and training. That coming from a guy that wasn't always able to dunk, period. My point is just because you can do this doesn't mean you were born with the ability. Some guys have a body that can put on lots of fast twitch muscle fiber readily. Edit: if by good genetics you meant everything I said and not just lots of fast twitch muscle out the gate then you're right. Big guys with lots of slow twitch muscle fibers with no natural genetic disposition for fast twitch muscle development (either from training or naturally occurring) probably won't be dunking like this. Skinny guys can go either way. If they can build that kind of muscle than they're a clean canvas. A light clean canvas.

@Lance101 5 жыл бұрын
@@DunkademicsOfficial So I was watching a video on his archive, the Wilt Chamberlain archive, and in one of the clips it was explaining that there was discussion of them changing the regulation height to 12 foot when wilt was in college. So they had a rim that was 12 foot and wilt used to routinely dunk on it. It also said that it was witnessed by multiple people on multiple occasions. Now I'm not sure whether this is true or not considering it came from a KZbin video and I haven't looked into seeing that this video is true through documents but considering that he was 7'1, really strong, and that there is video footage showing that he can jump really high, it makes it easier to believe this story.
@Lance101
@Lance101 5 жыл бұрын
@@DunkademicsOfficial I also found this from a forum post online. see what you think of it. The same goes for his VERTICAL LEAP. I have posted on that topic before, but I won't take the time now. Needless to say, there are eye-witness accounts, by respected sports' figures, of Wilt touching the top of the backboard. There is an account by veteran sport's writer George Kisida, of Wilt, in a hospital gown, and with a leap, touching a ceiling. He estimated Wilt's vertical at at least 42". There are numerous stories of Wilt dunking on a 12 ft. rim. AND, both the NCAA and NBA outlawed the dunking of FTs BECAUSE of Wilt, who was known to have been capable of it without having to start his jump from outside the FT circle.

believe it is a cultural thing mostly. Why do older wealthy men enjoy golf? Maybe most of their friends play and it is a good sport for patience and doesn't require insane athleticism. It is a community based sport and is easily accessible. If most of your friends started playing you probably would at least try it out.

I once saw Drexler dunk a 11'8" hoop unassisted and he glyded before the arc in the paint.
