@theshazman Жыл бұрын
Well they made the game which made this song famous. They are kind of the reason we're all here singing along to it.
@sirstrongbad9 ай бұрын
@@robmckennie4203 simply put, if the game didn't exist the song wouldn't . : Later in the year Valve invited Coulton to the company’s offices in Kirkland, Washington. "They flew me out there at Kim's urging," Coulton said. "During the visit they sat me down and I did a little play-testing on an unfinished version of ‘Portal’ and just loved it. We sat down with Eric Wolpaw, the writer…Eric said, ‘I always wanted to do a musical number in a game,’ and I said, ‘Oooh, that sounds juicy.’" Back in his New York studio, Coulton wrote "Still Alive." Without spoiling things, the song conveys the closing thoughts of a major character in "Portal," a character whose voice Coulton recognized as the subject of a lot of his non-game work: a "kind of monstrous, passive, aggressive misunderstood personality." www.mtv.com/news/u8nikv/the-story-behind-that-portal-song-its-place-in-video-game-history-and-some-delicious-snacks

I'm so glad I finally played Portal this year. I really regret not playing back when it first came out. I feel like I missed out on something special by not playing it when it was new. Even though 2021 has been a magical year being able to experience these two games for the first time, every time I see a video like this that's dated 2008, that regretful feeling comes over me again. I wonder if this is how Chell felt when she woke up at the beginning of Portal 2 and realized how much time had passed.

This was a triumph I'm making a note here; "Huge success" It's hard to overstate My satisfaction Aperture Science: We do what we must Because we can For the good of all of us Except the ones who are dead But there's no sense crying Over every mistake You just keep on trying Till you run out of cake And the science gets done And you make a neat gun For the people who are Still alive I'm not even angry I'm being so sincere right now Even though you broke my heart, And killed me And tore me to pieces And threw every piece into a fire As they burned it hurt because I was so happy for you Now, these points of data Make a beautiful line And we're out of beta We're releasing on time So I'm GLaD I got burned Think of all the things we learned- For the people who are Still alive Go ahead and leave me I think I'd prefer to stay inside Maybe you'll find someone else To help you? Maybe Black Mesa? That was a joke *Haha - Fat Chance* Anyway this cake is great It's so delicious and moist Look at me: still talking When there's science to do When I look out there, It makes me GLaD I'm not you I've experiments to run There is research to be done On the people who are Still alive And believe me I am Still alive I'm doing science and I'm Still alive I feel fantastic and I'm Still alive While you're dying I'll be Still alive And when you're dead I will be Still alive Still alive

You can clearly still hear it. Performers want you to sing along. They love it, being on stage and having a group sing means you are doing your job as a musician and performer extremely well. It means you've gotten the crowd to become excited and wanted to become involved. You've never heard a song you know all the words to and sun along with it? I'm sure you could hear them fine at the show too, it just the record picking up the people closet to them that causes that sound to drown out Felica.

@spade0014 I think people are talking about the flat, off-note male voice in the left channel. I don't notice it on my crappy speakers at home but hear it loud and clear with headphones. It's hard not to notice and ruins the power of the recording to some extent. The rest of the audience singing is fantastic since you can't distinguish any single voices. Perfect for a song like this, as you said. The one guy just had an unfortunate position relative to the camera.
