When he first appeared on our tv sets on the struggling show called Dark Shadows...that was it. History was born.

Outside of Lugosi... who is in a historic class by himself. Jonathan Frid was the greatest Vampire ever.

Don't forget Sir Christopher Lee who is better than Lugosi anytime.

@@christopherarnett2851 Martin Landau, who won an Oscar for portraying Bela Lugosi in “Ed Wood,” said that Bela Lugosi never displayed fangs when he portrayed the infamous count. However, the late, great Sir Christopher Lee really displayed his fangs, when Sir Christopher portrayed Count Dracula in those Hammer House of Horror films with the late, great Peter Cushing as Dr. Van Helsing.

Such a soft spoken man and perfect the part. His nervousness was palpable on screen. A man with secrets on screen and in real life, I miss him every day. ❤️ Anyone see the new Frid documentary?

Jonathan Frid was in town to do some equity play when I was in college. I worked at a popular restaurant and waited on him. If I remember he ate alone and drank rum and tonic which struck me as unusual. That was over 45 years ago.

You’d have thought Mr. Frid would have preferred a Bloody Mary.

I wasn't around during the hey day of Dark Shadows, but when I watched it on Hulu a few years ago, I fell in love with Barnabas when he started showing his vulnerable side. I was 16 when I watched Dark Shadows for the first time in 2019. The night before my 18th birthday, I dreamt that Barnabas came into my bedroom and drank my blood. Best. Dream. Ever.

Nowadays I can't get over his resemblance to Rowan Atkinson.

Yeah I love Mr. bean! Lol!

@@lucysmith8326 Before he was Mr. Bean, on British television he portrayed "Black Adder." His character delivered sarcastic wit in an eloquent, elegant way worthy of Jonathan Frid, whom I think was a stage actor.

@@wdd3141 Yes I also like Rowan on Thin Blue Line as Inspector Raymond Fowler. There were only 14 episodes and they are hilariously funny! I like him in the Johnny English movies also.

@@lucysmith8326 Mr. Atkinson was also terrific in the film, “Keeping Mum,” with Dame Maggie Smith and the late Patrick Swayze.
@marilynwillett8045 ай бұрын
Absolutely not, I'm sure Atkinson was good at his craft but Jonathan was a handsome man who received thousands of fan letters from women and I am sure Atkinson never did.
