I've seen many screen versions of Dracula over the years. I can honnestly say that this one is by far the best and most accurate to the Bram Stoker novel.

Agreed ! And lot of people thinks it it a horror movie or Book. Me I think it is a trafic and beautiful love story. Dracula is si broken by his lost love, he curse himself, curse god, and become si punish, eternal without his love!!! He seems have New birth when he meets the reincarnation of his love. That is so sad and beautiful. Sorry for my shitty english.

In the book the driver stops and goes to the locations of the flames to mark them, they appear only one night per year, its apparently where treasure is buried. Its implied the coach driver is Dracula, he marks the flames to go back for the treasure later.

In the book, Dracula can go out in the sun. He is less powerful and just can't do all the weird stuff he can at night like turn into a bat, a wolf or even control the weather like on the Demeter. It really wasn't until 1922's Nosferatu (which was an illegal adaptation of Dracula) where the whole vampires burn in the sunlight came into play. I'll take that over Dracula *shudders* sparkling.
