The Golden State Warriors defeated the Atlanta Hawks, 134-112. Stephen Curry (25 points, 8 assists, 5 3PT) and Jonathan Kuminga (25 points, 11-11 FG, 9 rebounds) and Klay Thompson (24 points, 5-10 3PT) totaled 74 points as the Warriors had seven players in double-figures overall. Dejounte Murray led the Hawks with 23 points, 7 rebounds, and 7 assists as Jalen Johnson added 21 points, 9 rebounds, and 6 assists. The Warriors improve to 19-22 as the Hawks move to 18-26.

As soon as Kuminga stopped jacking up so many 3's and focused on driving to the paint and shooting mid-range jumpers his game, confidence, and success has gone to the next level. Even though Wiggins historically is a better 3-point shooter than Kuminga he's been struggling since his return last year. He should be taking the same approach of prioritizing driving like he did in the finals against Boston. Leave the sharp shooting to Steph and Klay, and let others take 3's when it's an appropriate shot in the flow of the offense.

This performance is the result of Steve Kerr's coaching. If he played him right away he would've been relaxed. With young players you have to give them time to fight for their place so that they can become reliable for the team or else if you put too much faith in them too early on you get another Jordan Poole.

@@theemotionalremix Kerr's coaching has stunted his development. He's played just fine next to Steph and Klay. Much better than Wiggins. This performance is the kid once again taking the rare opportunity he's given and running with it. Kerr deserves very little credit for JK showcasing things he's been able to do since the preseason. He's fighting andrew wiggins for minutes. Someone he's outplayed all season. 😂
@theemotionalremix
@theemotionalremix 4 ай бұрын
@@calmdownbruh8518 yes. That's how it should be. Even Popovich at Spurs limits Wembanyama's minutes despite him being the best player by far. I've been saying that he could be a 20ppg+ guy for them this season after seeing how he came out of the offseason. He's definitely taken the leap this year. His defensive and IQ deficiencies are really just there b/c he's not being 100% professional about them not playing him the minutes he's earned. However, if you pay attention, you'll notice that when they play him the minutes he thinks he deserves, he's more focused everywhere on the court and it leads to him being a significant positive out there. He had a positive box +/- while not missing a single shot. His 3pt shot isn't fully consistent. However, the warriors need more downhill pressure right now, so maybe that's not a bad thing. If I were the coaching staff, I'd tell Kuminga to take them in the corners if they're wide open without thinking about it but to limit the shots beyond the break and just keep driving downhill. When he's in that mode, he's really hard to guard, b/c if you send two, he doesn't do too bad a job in punishing the overhelp and he has an option to hit some really productive shooters in Curry and Klay. Draymond is even having a good shooting year, so his downhill pressure makes even more sense for this team. I'm curious to see if they keep playing him the full minutes he probably warrants. I'm seeing something new in his game though... the game has slowed down a lot for him now and he's even hitting people with crossover moves in traffic--that boy is looking comfortable man. And that's scary. I know he's our best trade asset right now, but I hope they don't trade him, b/c he's looking like a future perennial allstar right now... He's only 21 and he's really putting together a nasty bag. They really need to nurture that and even consider trading away some of their aging assets to rebuild on his timeline, b/c it's going to be hard to find a guy with this much potential. I'd say, if their name ain't Curry or Kuminga, I'd say they're tradeable, b/c I'd be looking to make this his team in like 2 seasons.
