I was this type of woman years ago. I couldn’t understand why my then boyfriend (now husband) wouldn’t post me on social media. It’s a privacy thing. I didn’t get that. I do now. When you post certain things on social media, it’s like giving people an “All-Access” pass into your private life. They feel comfortable asking things that should be kept between that couple.

I didn't post my husband on social media until I posted our wedding picture the day after we got married. Nobody even knew I was dating. It allowed us to really focus on building and growing both individually and together. Our relationship was by no means a secret at all in real life, but I guess I just never understood the fascination with announcing every single stage on social media. But hey, that's my opinion 🤷🏾♀️

Man I’m not putting anyone on my social until we are married 😂 Communication is key in all of this and if we know each other family and friends and where we stand in our relationship social media is not needed. I would rather have a genuine relationship with my boyfriend’s mom verses a surface relationship with her and tagging her in all my social media post.

My first time watching Casual and I was cracking up! 🤣🤣 Yall was speaking truth. My husband and I just got married in May of this year and we pretty much eloped to Pastor's office without telling anyone. Didn't even tell our parents until the day of. We felt led to just go and do it while at the same time... some people were also having too many opinions on how, when, where we were getting married. It was just TOO MUCH. Sometimes, you gotta do it and tell folks later. I remember when Dee was getting married! He was the worship leader at CLC and it was so nice how Pastor Jerry honored him as he went to be in ministry with his wife.❤

They make very good points!!! My momma always taught me to keep your personal affairs on the down low, and she especially applies that to social media presence. While a new relationship is exciting, social media can be really toxic and bring in bad vibes. Only post if you ready and committed, and if you both agree. Once it's out there you can't take it back!

I'm not on social media, I've deactivated all of my accounts so no relationship in the future will be online. I found the interesting that you said that relationships are branding for women. I believe it's because society brands women as unruly, unsafe, "Jezebel". So when you brand yourself with a partner, it's like saying "Hey I'm a good girl, and here's a man to prove it!" Men are trophies in as much as women are trophies for men, it's just for different reasons. It has been my experience (may not be everyone's truth, okay we all live different lives) that female singleness is often seen as a threat, or a problem to be solved.

People should stop treating early dating like a relationship. We get exclusive too quick and end up getting hurt in the process. I do believe that honesty should be foremost from the start and you should be clear with your intentions from the first conversation.

I'll say this about reason 2 though...if you ain't done in the streets, let that be known! Don't be out here dating people and you know very well you ain't ready to be exclusive.

To the last point that was made @ 19:43: I think if women want validation about their relationship, it would be from people who care about them. Because emotional decisions can be extremely dangerous, we need to make sure our commitments are also logical. But posting on social media to be seen as “relationship goals” is probably more associated with either excitement or insecurity than women as a whole.
