Has to be one of the best programs I've ever watched. What's the opposite of dumbing-down I wonder? Educating-up? This has it in spades. Incidental music is good too. It was on the strength of this I bought a box set of his documentaries. They are a joy. JM's a treasure.

Arrogant self opinionated eccentric and utterly brilliant. You have to listen as well as watch as the words are just as important as the images. In a previous programme he nailed why I have a love hate relationship with my home town Manchester. Programs of this quality just don't get made now apart from a few on BBC Radio 4

Nothing wrong with attenborough. As for Schama, he's just willing to promote himself as much as possible.
