He is from Baton Rouge Louisiana. He wasn't from Boston. He even attended college in Mississippi. He has a southern accent. That was what he was taught how to speak that way and growing up probably most of the people he talked to talked the same as he did. Your accent might sound strange to someone from the south. There are other people than the people who you associate with.
