I watched your man in the debate, apparently he forgot his policies, all I heard was the usual 'vote for change', 'vote to turn the page', but no actual policies...... would not say he wouldn't tax pensions, would not say a woman is a biological woman, (how he makes women's spaces safe without that, I don't know), would not say how he would fund building his houses, or where, would not say how he would miraculously get Europe to agree to a better deal without freedom of movement, would not say how he would tackle migration, would not say if he was sure no other candidates of his had bet on the election, would not say if he would raise taxes, but we should 'turn the page', it seems the other side of the page is blank though...............hmmmm

The problem is the left wing labour party have never had even half the scandels the roght wing conservatives have. I remember in the early 90s a huge scandel the right wing papers had about labour was that it supported equal pay for black people and at the same time the big scandel for tbe tories was a indershed rent boy was found dead strangled to death in a perverted sex game a torycmp played @iann23 the problem is the right wing gives more ammunition as they are far far more corrupt. Thematically speaking, the most important thing Terry Pratchett taught me was the concept of militant decency. The idea that you can look at the world and its flaws and its injustices and its cruelties and get deeply, intensely angry, and that you can turn that into energy for doing the right thing and making the world a better place. He taught me that the anger itself is not the part I should be fighting. Nobody in my life ever said that before. -Serialephemera on Terry Pratchett

which one's that from? got them all sitting on my shelf*, patiently waiting to be read. the early ones read through a few times on separate occasions attempting to work my way through. the last time round managed to get my partner into him and she plugged all the gaps in mine &my mothers joint collection, now all sat in a pile at mine. need to get back into reading in general and this one you thematically summarise may be my route back in... *well, they were until major house works then decoration last year, now they're in piles on the bedroom floor upstairs.

@@ManWalksDogs I think it is the essence of Vimes, caught by someone who saw the same things in the works as I did. The witches also raised the concept more than once, e.g "Granny Weatherwax was often angry. Genuine anger was one of the world’s great creative forces. But you had to learn how to control it. That didn’t mean you let it trickle away. It meant you dammed it, carefully, let it develop a working head, let it drown whole valleys of the mind and then, just when the whole structure was about to collapse, opened a tiny pipeline at the base and let the iron-hard stream of wrath power the turbines of revenge."(Wyrd Sisters) She used righteous anger quite creatively. [edit: Note that Vimes was often knurd - the not-drunk wrong side of sober, seeing too much of reality.] The story says it was lack of endogenous alcohol that did it, but I think Vimes had so much natural decency that what he saw in the world hurt, and he needed a couple of drinks to blur the edges and not loose his temper at the wrong time. (I did mean "loose." He kept it tightly reined in, after all.)

Perhaps it's fate that the day is the Fourth of July, where we will once again be fighting for our freedom... Freedom from tyranny, oppression and persecution.....from annihilation. WE are fighting for our right to LIVE. To exist. And WHEN we win the day, the Fourth of July will no longer be known as an American holiday, but as the day the country declared in ONE voice: "We will NOT go quietly into the night!" We will NOT vanish without a fight! We're going to live on! We're going to survive! Today we celebrate our Independence Day! " 😏

Love your work and have enjoyed all your coverage over the last few years about politics its really made me laugh at a time when laughs are hardwr to come by The sad thing is that even though this is comedy and satire it's also facts and spine chilling that this is how politicians view us who pay for them to have the privilege to screw us all over F@#k the tories xx
