Of Course Haredi have to join the army. They are Israeli citizens and have to do their part. There are many jobs in the army to do and as well.United Hazala firefighters etc. All israelis have to go to the army the religious people are not an exception The army first, then study, and by the way, the religious or study Torah, when they are three or four years old until the age of 18, so giving three years of their lives to the army, as we all are is a must

This interview completely ignores the responsibility of the dati leumi public for accepting to serve without being properly represented in the top ranks of the army and having a say on all army affairs. They have accepted the role of puppets of the deep state, who must blindly follow the shameful rules of engagement inspired by woke leftist generals like Herzi Halevy. They have also accepted the entire package of secular indoctrination that takes place at lower ranks. I believe there is only one Aluf who is dati. As Rabbi Bar Haim correctly pointed out, assuming the political issues issues are worked out, Haredim will never serve in an army where Haredi Rabbis have no say on how army affairs are conducted and halakha is not respected. The real problem is that the Dati leumi public should impose the same conditions. Either you join hands with the Haredim to make Israel a Torah state, or you join hands with the secular to destroy it (in the style of Bennet and Matan Kahane)! And one more thing for Rabbi Bar Hayim: the army also promotes the service of LGBT and disabled individuals at the expense of an efficient army.

Its not the same. In a society surrounded by dogs and villains, everyone has shared responsibility to defend their society. Haredim that live off welfare to study Torah and some even make the women work are not following Judaism. Monasticism is discouraged and we are commanded to work the Earth by the sweat of our brows.
@barbados3592
@barbados3592 3 ай бұрын
I would modify what you said to say, saying they do absolutely no good is ridiculous. And you are right. The truth is, they do a lot more than that. We see how the woke have torn apart the Western world. If the Haredim do nothing else, they are an absolute bulwark against which the woke are helpless. We all need each other. Now whether the Haredim are right or wrong vis a vis the British mandate, is as besides the point as whether they should or should not go to the army. The rest of us are simply unwilling to live under the British. זהו. Similarly the Haredim are not going to be compelled against their will to serve whether we like it or not. זהו. We must therefore deal with the reality on the ground and not waste our time with pointless fantasy. And maybe that's exactly what Hashem really wants anyway.

The biblical army was composed of males above the age of 20, excepting the Kohanim and the three Levite tribes - no females were involved in combat. Devorah is a biblical exception, as she was herself a prophet and a judge when there was no responsible man. The issue now is that the secular establishment wishes to combine females in order to promote lewd conduct and to lower the morale and the standards. See how the woke US army today has to preach pronoun usage and includes transgender folks, and you will see what the future holds. Women could certainly be utilized in non-combat roles, such as intelligence units and communications. Unfortunately, the present hierarchy in the IDF totally ignored a female scout unit which reported the unusual extra activities of the HAMAS in the months before the 7th of October 2023. And you know the rest of the story. Those female soldiers were not even given a phone call to wake up their unit and many of them were killed on that fateful day, without any backup arriving for several hours. And most of the help that came to the rescue was from ordinary citizens with arms, not an official set of orders. God help us to resolve these issues for the good of all. Thank you for your service to the USA, Eliezer.

Regardless of any criticisms, the religious sector that is not Haredi serves in the army. Our security is more important. Zaka is almost 100% “ultra orthodox”….is that “army service”? Think we need to encourage Jewish young adults globally to serve in the army. Many Haredim will leave the country before serving in the army! They cannot be in an army that agrees for women to serve in combat units. What does the Torah have to say about that?

Women are NOT commanded to serve in the army. The unfortunate history of the Israeli army is that secular commanders have forced men to serve together with women. But there are a few Haredi units, with kosher food, and without any female combatants. But the Army of the Torah includes all MALES above the age of 20, with the exception of a few Levite tribes and the Kohanim. Problem today is that few people are willing to sit down and to solve this issue in real politic fashion. It could be solved.

Work together and accept one another where we are as we are as much as we can without compromising ourselves as well. If the argument is earnest and accurate, that Haredim merely object to serving in a “post-Christian” secular DEI army, then they should embrace service. Their numbers would nudge the institution in their direction and demographic trends over time would mean that they will come to OWN the institution. But if they don’t embrace service then that same demographic trend will spell certain disaster for the country.

If the Haredi are afraid that there people when they serve in the army will not be religious anymore that's a problem. If you are a strong believer in faith, the army will not change that.
