Wikipedia says he toured with a band he called The Modern Lovers from 76-88, but when seeing him live from about 1981 & On, he just toured as JR. Saw a really cool magician open for him !

This was billed as JONATHAN RICHMAN & THE MODERN LOVERS but saw him a couple of times not so long after this where it was just him... & his guitar(s).....

The music definitely sounds Modern Lovers Not his solo sound.

Geoff Strum it's a band he referred to as the modern lovers. However the original ML, it is Not.

@@FruitierThanThou I saw this tour line up in Manchester a few days earlier. It was Brennan Totten on guitar and Johnny Avila on snare drum. With Jonathan playing guitar now and again or blowing on saxophone. The same as on Modern Lovers 88.

I am academic there (now university of westminster) and we have events where we play recordings on the anniversary of the date it took place, in the space it took plece - we might do one with this if thats ok? @@guyosborn5998 No... Academia was not my calling... I didn't liven London at the time... I did go to a few gigs at CLP but mainly ULU & North London Poly & in the late 1970' early 1980's I did spend quite a lot of time at the Lyceum, Electric Ballroom & sometime The Hammy Palais.... I have no problem using the recording... I don't own it... 99.9% of all the stuff I load for friends & if anybody else likes it great....
