@dalelerette206 True story: Last week, my older brother dropped by for dinner. His wife is now learning about our faith, she’s attending RCIA and will be baptised Easter 2025. During dinner, she asked about the Eucharist and its significance. And my older brother (ie. her husband) quickly answered; “Its just symbolic. We do it because Jesus broke bread with His Apostles before He was crucified.” Oh gosh, I almost went into cardiac arrest when I heard the word “symbolic.” I quickly jumped in and said: “No, it’s not! How can you say that? The Holy Eucharist is the REAL body of Christ. Have you not heard the word transubstantiation?”Everyone around the table went silent. And everyone quickly changed the subject. 1 week on, I am still thinking about what he naively said and I wonder how many Catholics think the same 😢. The only thing that separates us from the 38,000++ Christian denominations is the Holy Eucharist. Jesus is truly present, at mass, with us. And as a Communion Minister, I was saddened to hear my brother (a cradle Catholic) utter those words. Anyway, the next day, he and his wife flew off to Bali for 10 days. He will be back next Monday. I most certainly will chat with him in private. I will be gentle ☺️☺️.

I knew that since Dallas Jenkins, creator of "The Chosen," is an evangelical that we would never hear the "bread of life discourse" in "The Chosen." I used to be an Evangelical (grew up Southern Baptist)- Evangelicals typically do not believe in the real presence of Christ in the Eucharist (and even if they did, they don't have it). In my old church, "Lord's Supper" was considered symbolic, and it was only celebrated about once a quarter.

I was at the Eucharistic Congress, it was so wonderful. I am still effected and affected (hopefully forever). Amen, Jonathan! I wish I could talk with you about your conversion to Catholicism, as I have been considering it. I was raised at First Baptist Church, New Haven, CT, and it was a good experience. I was Baptized at age 14 after Bible Study classes. It is similar to the Catholic Confirmation. I saw a documentary where a couple of pastors converted to Catholicism. I am huge fan of Jonathan Roumie's portrayal of Jesus Christ. Jonathan's reading of John 6:47-68 is magnificent! I regularly eat the bread and drink the cup of Christ's atoning sacrifice in my faith. I also cherish the prayer given by the priests who administer this Sacrament. I would like to share the blessing they give on the bread with you as an offering to Jonathan's wonderful speech and spirit. O God, the Eternal Father, We ask thee in the name of thy Son, Jesus Christ, to bless and sanctify this bread to the souls of all those who partake of it, that they may eat in remembrance of the body of thy Son; and witness unto thee, O God, the Eternal Father, that they are willing to take upon them the name of thy Son, and always remember him, and keep his commandments which he has given them; that they may always have his Spirit to be with them.
