I love the organ set up . It's perfect for the pipes and the acoustics. I used to look after a older organ , although I cannot play. Because of so many things the pipes were always in need of repair, and the acoustics were questionable .

How wonderful !! This is bliss. I can hardly wait to hear Jonathan's arrangement of Handel's Andante larghetto e staccato. I am sure it will be as glorious as all the other music that has been subjected to his genius. Bless him for extending such generous lifelines to us and may the Heavens in return give to him: Health and Peace Profound.

The Tom Scoot piece is a tour de force !! I love it !! It takes the listener on a scintillating journey of bright and sparkling pulse -- with an ever so slightly melancholic (or perhaps nostalgic) tone. I hope he has composed other equally dynamic and colorful music for organ.

Thank you Jonathan and Tom for another spectacular concert. Completely agree, beautiful clean, crisp design and sound of the instrument, perfectly matched to the hall and academic scrutiny. No hiding of technique or fidelity to the scores on this organ. Your program was expertly chosen for the organ and venue. You always choose greater openers, and Cantata 29 was a brilliant, bright rendition of a familiar piece. Handel’s staccato Andante Larghetto was a wonderful crisp arrangement with playful precision. I could imagine a joyous pro/recessional celebration. I really appreciate the context that you share with every piece Jonathan, and thank you so much for introducing us to pieces not often appreciated. Albinoni’s Adagio was amazing and I know your arrangement added even more heartfelt colour to a captivating piece. I love how the chord progressions come back to rest on the root, and how the you’ve paired it with the floating tune on top, like a operatic coloratura aria. Once again you have shared a magnificent concert thoughtfully curated for the instrument, the hall, the collection, and even the season. Bravo maestro. Looking forward to our next musical adventure.

This is clearly an organ that should be heard (recorded) more often. The clarity is probably helped by the acoustic of the hall which does have a little more 'body' to it than the St.Andrews University Chapel where exists another organ by the same builder (also recorded all too rarely). I wonder whether the clarity temps you to play just a trifle too fast in your first two items? I am left slightly out of breath. Otherwise admirable interpretation backed by superb technique. Thank you and brother Tom

Early instruments usually had the 'naturals' dark and the 'sharps' white - with just a slip of ivory along the top. I presume it was because the wood used for the dark colour was not as expensive as the ivory used for the light keys. Also, ivory wears away with use. I've played historic keyboards where the most-used notes were hollowed out by generations of fingers.
