@@marionodom9585He said when Robin and Jonathan were on, his job was "to stay the hell out of the way." I don't know of a host to tell u the truth that wants to be the center of attention when they are interviewing. I think Fallon is a different era, but he doesn't steal the spotlight. Carson's Tonight Show, notice there's air between the conversations, sketches and what not. Ppl had more patience and it created a much more relaxed atmosphere. Wouldn't business want to keep the viewer's attention as long as possible? Now it's too much. The hype feels crazy from the audience like they're from a football game. I think Carson was a reflection of the times and he retired partly due to when he felt the spark get old, cuz he didn't like what Bob Hope was doing. All due respect to Hope, as entertainment is subjective, he did get stale for me.

He’s my all-time favorite Jonathan Winters you have to hear him tell the story about his grandfather when he was a little boy and his grandpa told him to go out and milk the cows And he was insinuating that his grandfather was a boozer and he kept telling his grandfather that the cows were dead!! Then he proceeded to physically describe how he milked the dead cows!! I laughed so hard I fell out of my bed my whole life he has been my favorite look that up on Google it’s the funniest story he’s ever told on Johnny Carson love him so much❤️💖

Jonathan was one of those who could make you laugh with just a look. Amazing, isn't it, no profanity or insults, just pure comedy. What a talent. I often wonder what people like him are like when they're "off stage", just regular people. Many are very quiet and almost shy when not performing. I always liked Jonathan. He is missed.

JW's childhood was miserable, but he hints at it and used it for comedy. When he returned from the service (WW II), he went up to his room at his parents' home and it had been emptied. He asked his mother where all of his things were - his clothes, his books, his records, his 'stuff' and she said, "We got rid of it, We didn't think you'd make it." He left and I'm not sure he ever returned. So glad that he found the love, support and home life he longed for with his wife of 60 years and two children. My God that man made me laugh!

@@cascorick8253 The overwhelming majority of the US citizenry weren't in Vietnam, so what is your point? That certain individuals or groups of people faced hardships in life? My comment didn't dispute that or diminish it. I merely stated the person sentiment that I would rather be living back then than now. An anecdotal desire that I am sure many others would echo in this ridiculously divisive and socially fragmented times. Where people can't simply laugh or enjoy something without some oppressive demand or expectation that they should be weighing the deep aspects of social justice, or judging something or someone based entirely on their adherence to trendy woke politics. I like to laugh. I like to watch interesting people converse without the weight of politics constantly pressing down on them and chilling their speech. Vietnam? A horrible divisive war that hurt the US but one that still wasn't able to make things as bad as they are now. If you were there, I am glad that you made it through, and I respect your service.
