Not a big fan of tiny Sariel, the massive scale and abstract distorted background with the hall of mirrors is what sold it for me in the original game.

Glad to see my fifth favorite Touhou Character again, I wish these remakes/remasters were playable since I actually liked 1 and 5... (I also liked 3, but not that much) the first is probably my second most played Touhou game after eight which I started on... Sariel is a great character too.

How come he cannot legally distribute them ? ZUN told us to consider the PC-98 as derivative works from what I've read and those are including his own artworks, gamelogic, and music. What is your source for that statement ?

Jonath Kane I remember reading on another channel that had this video a massive comment chain where each comment was a few paragraphs each. Something I was reading was that he owns all copy right claims. (and every one at some university...) I only read 78% of it. Something about "Amusement Makers" or something of the like.

Yeah, I was guessing as much. I think it's lies, because there are so many Touhou fangames already. Also, Amusement Makers is the name of a school club IIRC. It's still somewhat active, take project-noise.dojin.com/ for examples. Also, that's not how copyrights work with software, if what I was taught at the computer engineering school is to be believed. I'd wager this explain the great number of derivative works for many mainstream games (e.g. Mario) and I think it's a good thing. PS : there are touhou guidelines but they only specify not to use ZUN's music or art, specifically, IIRC.
