Jonathan is right. The cat is out of the bag. It is very clear now how secular programming plays out. As someone who was raised in public school and Christian. I can see now that I need to homeschool my kids and find a healthy church community to be part of. I don't mind them being aware of what secularism thinks, but I do want them to know the difference between a man and a woman. And I do want them to have traditional values. Traditionalism has survived thousands of years because it works. Woke-ism will crash and burn, while traditional values continue. This is what Jordan Peterson meant by being "true." False ideologies will die out soon enough. We just have to stick to our values.

Lucifer is the archetype of grievance - the complaint of the oppressed. Satan is the archetype of the revolutionary - the refusal to accept authority. Both aspects of the diabolical are self-destructive. Pageau calls it suicidal, specifically is the parasite that ends itself by killing its host. Grievance is rightly viewed as a weapon, and revolution entails war. Every thoughtful man knows that when he takes up arms he will have the lesser and the greater enemy to fight. The lesser enemy is the other armed man in the contest to destroy each other’s body. The greater enemy is the spirit of war itself, which can destroy his own spirit and the spirit of his cause to fight in the first place. Everyone knows, or should know, that blood spilt on the ground calls out for vengeance, and nourishes hatred, which are the means by which the spirit of war perpetuates itself into the future. For peace to ensue, grievance must be laid aside with all other weapons. If swords can be beaten into plowshares to till the soil for food, perhaps grievance can be beaten into compassion to till the soul for love. Imagine the process whereby grievance is transmuted into compassion….

Why is it that parents still have trouble talking to their kids about sex, why social nudity is even more taboo today, or why people are reportedly having less sex? @TerrienFr2 ай бұрын
First of all, the reference is not Leonardo da Vinci's Last Supper at all. It is The Feast of the Gods by Jan Harmensz van Biljert, painted around 1635 and housed at the Magnin Museum in Dijon. The gods of Olympus are celebrating the marriage of Thetis and Peleus; at the center of the table is not Christ, but Apollo crowned. Bacchus-Dionysus is lying in the foreground. He is the man in blue. Secondly, to all those who see the blasphemy of Christ in the "parody of the Last Supper" or the decay of society, it is indeed important to remind them of Christ's true message. Here is the analysis of Charles Declerq, Priest and journalist: "Let's take the example of the "parody of the Last Supper." It is not a parody of the Last Supper itself, but a parody of paintings that interpret the Last Supper, which are just as far from what could have actually taken place and possibly a reinterpretation of Dionysian myths (let's not forget that Judeo-Christianity also drew inspiration from myths of other cultures). We must remember that when the evangelical authors (who did not know Jesus and belong to the 2nd and 3rd generations of disciples) include a meal at a "Last Supper" in their narratives (except for the author of the Gospel attributed to John), they are incorporating into their accounts a practice of their community (itself derived from the Jewish Passover seder). It is difficult to describe "historically" this meal, which is described in narratives with high theological value added. I am responding here as a Catholic priest. Regarding the disrespect that would be shown to Christ with what some have called a "shameful parody of the Last Supper" (especially in far-right and extreme-right circles), this demonstrates a total misunderstanding of the theology of kenosis. I will give an example: a few decades ago, in France, an artist scandalized Catholics who violently protested. What was it about? He had exhibited crucifixes submerged in urine. To which the weekly La Vie responded through one of its theologians that the Church Fathers would have seen in it a very symbolic and theological representation of kenosis (Christ emptying himself of his divinity to lower himself into humanity) and that it was probably - despite the artist's intentions - the most "true" representation of Christ. But the argument was not heard (especially by rigid and identity-focused Catholics). And yet, in these representations, including that of the opening ceremony of the 2024 Olympics in Paris, it is the deepest meaning of Christianity that is shown: Jesus welcoming sinners, tax collectors, prostitutes, and promising them that they will precede us in the kingdom. As a Christian, I like to think that Jesus, today, could have surrounded himself with these people for his last meal. Much to the dismay, of course, of today's new Pharisees! This is the very essence of Christ's message and the gospel. And it is an opportunity to recall the core of Jesus' message, which is the love of all, including and especially our enemies. Jesus reminds us that God makes it rain on the good and the wicked, that he welcomes everyone, and that we are invited to do the same. And the love of others does not require any reciprocity on their part, for if we love those who love us, the pagans do as much. So yes, let's also rejoice in this "parody" to thus apply the message of Christ and a civilization that wants to be inspired by it. And if we are asked for our coat, let us also give our shirt! It is clear, straightforward, and precise, "our traditions" are an invitation to love every man and woman, especially those who are strangers, who come from elsewhere, have another religion, other customs, who are different. The big problem is that many who claim to follow Jesus Christ have not grasped the depth, radicality, and intensity of his message. In nearly 40 years of priesthood, I have discovered that many faithful had the words and gestures correct but were not disciples of Christ and the gospel. However, I have found on the thresholds and outside the churches that many people who were not Christians or not "practicing" were disciples of the Gospel without knowing it."

Appeasing gods through sacrifice is vastly different from mere consumption of meat. Such rituals were performed with reverence in honouring their gods, whereas butchering and cooking of food requires none of those. At the very least after offering a sacrifice, it's then butchered afterwards in the market (which is why the Early Christians do not buy meat from the market), whereas today those 200,000 cows are left on the ground to rot afterwards, worsening the soil and nation signifying a fleeting adherence to the modern.

Do I think the opening ceremony was art? Yes. Art is provocative. In this case, very. Was it beautiful art? That is always subjective. I found it odd and off the mark, though beautifully executed. Do I think it was mockery, the word being thrown around in an attempt to fuel a media driven by outrage? The more I think of it, No.I think it was an attempt of a gnostic queer minded vision to include a modern God amongst the older Greek ones. That is art, it is ok and I don’t want to live in a world where artists are censored. I think it is a sign of the times. If nothing else, we can use it for a constructive conversation about the use of images seen as holy to a religion in an attempt to depict an agenda that is not of that religion, but that can be seen as a good thing. So the more I think it through. I believe it will do more good than bad for Christians and Christianity, the crowd being told we should be outraged. But those who identify as Christian should be cautious to not sin in their reaction. It is nothing to hate. But something to talk about it. That is, in the end, what art is meant to do. Broad are the gates to hell and narrow is the path to heaven. My problem here is, as always, the Gnostic Queer agenda to sexualize children.
@aquiladavid56812 ай бұрын
I have to disagree that the opening ceremony was art. Despite the post modern view, art must be coherent and not only stand on being “provocative”, which is really just code word for grotesque in this case. I’m sorry, but art must be beautiful in the classical sense. There is an objective standard for beauty because heaven is beautiful and is the absence of all things grotesque and ugly. Also, a life in Christ is perfect sobriety and congruence within reality; therefore the incoherent and disjointed opening ceremony was an affront to God and his perfect order. It was not art - just pure blasphemy.

@IFeelQuiteHungry You are sorely deceived, my friend. The two paintings are similar in that they both have people at a table, but put all three side-by-side and tell me which two look the most alike... Also, say you were right (which you're not), this Olympic committee said that they were going to make it a religiously neutral ceremony - what is areligious about pantheon of the gods?? May God clear your eyes and your heart to see and perceive clearly.

@@rkc84 You misinterpreted a single quote from Tolstoy. Read his entire work entitled "What is Art?". He definitely believe in an objective standard of beauty, although interpreted differently by different people. He said that real art effectively "COMMUNICATES" emotion through the piece, not "evoke", and I'm sorry, but disgust and offense are not beautiful or communicative emotions. Maybe I'm wrong, though, and I'll leave the door open to your opinion... Could you summarize in one to two sentences what coherent message of the opening ceremony was and how it was beautiful?
@daveh12372 ай бұрын
@@rkc84 Just because I can look at irrational and ugly blasphemy and call it what it is and express my disgust does not mean that it effectively communicated an emotion through it to me. Is animal abuse art? 🤷♂ By your definition, if it is offensive to our morals or sensibilities, then I guess it would be... along with about any other possible atrocity that revolts us. Not a very reliable or consistent litmus for "art".

That the ancient Greek religion and myth, Dionysus is the god of wine-making NOT the last supper.

Even if that were a valid excuse, it doesn't change the predicament the West is in with woke culture.
@TheTwoheadedEagle2 ай бұрын
The organizers of the opening ceremony would have to be incredibly naive to set that scene up and think people would see anything but the Last Supper. Now try to be honest and tell me that Dionysus was what you saw when that image popped onto your screen.

The display was literally had "the last super" in the name in French and straight up looks like it. Sure it was Dionysian too, things can have more than one meaning. But go ahead and be dense.

Isn't the Olympic ceremony simply about human pride?
@TheRealSteveMay2 ай бұрын
Yes but in it's worst possible form. It is about the dera cina tion and homogenization of all the worlds people under a single banner that is in direct conflict with God. It is a celebration of the tower of babel and the direct challenge to the authority of God that the unification of humanity via our own debauched will represents.
