I listened to the popular duet "Om du lämnade mig nu" for the first time. Here is my reaction.

Looked up what the definition of a duet is: "A duet is a musical composition for two performers in which the performers have equal importance to the piece, often a composition involving two singers or two pianists. It differs from a harmony, as the performers take turns performing a solo section rather than performing simultaneously." Yeah, so now we know.

Please, do Miss Li and her way of doing "Här kommer natten". That is powerful and one of her absolute best. Pugh Rogefeldt released it in the 70´s and Miss Li has made a cover. She´s really taking it to hights :)

Nice reaction! I don't agree that the point with a duett necessary must be to sing together. It has to fit with the lyrics. Sometimes the lyrics is two parts side of the story, then they should tell/sing their parts.

What you referred to as a "lazy saxophone" at the beginning of the video is a Cello. You should check out "Tillfälligheternas Spel" by Tomas Ledin.

I almost suggested this song before but was sure it had come up already and here it is! I'd have suggested the live version out there, her reaction to the crowd is rivetingly pure. On Helen Sjöhölm: She has hands down the best Swedish female voice of the last 30 years. "Du är min man" is the most popular but you've GOTTA do three additional songs with her. "Du måste finnas" (the Minnesota live clip from the musical. Read a bit about the musical), "Gabriella sång" from the movie Så Som I Himmelen and "En dag i sänder" with Benny Anderssons Orkester (ABBA-Benny)

Regarding the way they don't sing together at all in this song, I think it fits really well with the lyrics as I always imagined it as two letters or messages that they sent each other. If you are interrested in "proper" duets with Lars Winnerbäck, check out Dom Band Som Binder Mig with him and Lisa Ekdahl, it's far from a classic but it's a personal favourite and I think their voices blend beautifully (there's lots of other songs they've performed together aswell, but that one is my favourite) Keep this series coming, loving the content :)

Well this is a two side of a love story on the edge of breaking.. Both of them unsure and don't want to speak out about their feelings. They are talking to themself about their insecurities.. That's why it goes back and forth. It's amazing!!

I'm surprised if you haven't heard more from Miss Li.. She's had three songs simultaneously on Svensktoppen top ten this year "Lev nu dö sen", "Komplicerad" (this one also has an english version called Complicated" and "Starkare". She was among the top ten most streamed artist in Sweden on spotify 2020 and THE most streamed female artist in sweden. She also had many hits before this. I would recommend you to check out her cover "Här kommer natten", which is highly beloved, "Komplicerad", which has been on Svensktoppen for 38 weeks so far.. Lastly I would recommend you to watch "Oh boy", it's her breakthrough and show what she was like early in her career. Yes I'm a fan :'D A personal favourite is "I finally found it".

Lars Winnerbäck featured in another duet three or four years ago or so, with Per Gessle (Roxette/Gyllene Tider), called "Småstadsprat" ("Smalltown talk"). It's arranged in a similar way, more like a dialogue/guest appearance than a 'traditional' duet. Gessle is the songwriter and he's also released a live version as well as an English version, both with his long term backing vocalist Helena Josefsson. Nice low-key kind of song, in a similar vein as this one. Don't think it even remotely topped the selling/streaming charts (although Gessle's LP probably made it very well as it usually does, he has a solid fanbase), but it's a collab with two giants within the Swedish musical landscape and I strongly suspect it was successful on Svensktoppen, without checking.

I agree with you 100% about the voices. Lars does not have a bad voice but Miss Li had a clean sweep. I also like the raspiness of her vioce just as i like Bonnie Tylers voice. If you did not yet hear Magnus Uggla Jag och min far, you should listen to it.

LW is probably the best lyricist we got in the whole country. Both of them has a lot of solo music to check out. This is his sound pretty much, she usually sounds a lot more up beat in her stuff. Oh, and I'm pretty sure that's a cello and not a saxophone man haha

It's not a classic duet. It is Lars ft Miss Li. And they are telling the story from their side and it wouldn't have worked if they sang together. I feel you kind of ruined the song for yourself when pausing comparing voices and joking around etc and complaining insted of listening and taking in the feeling more. Lars is amazing he has a way with words he is a vissångare or singer songwriter and have both funny and more serious songs but he is good at usig words in an unusual way to tell stories that really make you nostalgic and it's very real the way he tells his storys.

I want to suggest a duet the way you want it (or maybe a little more "Swedish"): Frida Snell and Freddie Wadling "Flow my Ashes". Freddie Wadling is a must here - as charismatic as Cornelis or Fred Åkerström. A problem is that this is not a hit or klassiker. Wadling has made many excellent duets but the only real klassiker by Wadling I can think of is his version of "Fattig bonddräng". Text by 'Astrid Lindgren and Music by George Riedel - iconic jazz musician. Best combination possible!

Consider the lyrics - the fact that they don´t sing together brings out the breakup. And you are actually correct regarding them not singing in the studio at the same time: Miss Li was not that big when she was asked to come in and sing the female part of this song. She was very surprised when they said that they wanted to release it with her on it.

The fact that they sung separately is actually a good choice. The song is about a couple worrying about that they might split up, and what they might do, seen from both sides.

Nordman - Vandraren. Den måste ses som en klassiker nationellt. Nationalteatern band från 70-talet, ingen popmusik men tycker många av deras låtar speglar den tiden bra. "Kolla Kolla" kanske är bra att reagera till men min favorit är "Men bara om min älskade väntar". Fronda - Rullar Fram. Skulle inte påstå klassiker men du har inte lyssnat på någon liknande musik och är din generation skulle jag säga. Kunde inte se att du lyssnat på dem.
