Jonathan Schrantz analyzes three of Joseph Henry Blackburne's greatest attacking games showcasing king hunts, amazing chess tactics, and typical mating patterns.
Blackburne was a dominant British chess player from the 19th century who, inspired by Paul Morphy, learned to play blindfold simultaneous exhibitions. Many of these games led to absolutely brilliant finishes.
Game 1 (Jerome Gambit): 0:57
Game 2 (Danish Gambit): 8:55
Game 3 (Evans Gambit): 16:42

You should have a look into the (possibly dubious) Cracow variation of the Italian (1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bc4 Bc5 4. c3 Nf6 5. d4 exd4 6. cxd4 Bb4+ 7. Kf1). Gets out of theory and has so many traps, and even in the best line for black white has equality at the least. d6 and 0-0 lose on the spot and Nxe4 leaves white almost winning- black must play d5 leaving white with many tricky ideas such as 8.exd5 Nxd5 9.Nc3 Nxc3 10.bxc3 Bxc3 11.Qb3 Bxa1 12.Bxf7+ Kf8 13.Ba3+ Ne7 and the brilliant 14. Ke2!!!

@jackkeating1663
@jackkeating1663 4 жыл бұрын
@@LeventK It's very tricky and has no clear refutation if 9...Bxc3 instead, white can continue 10.bxc3 0-0 11.Ng5! h6 12.h4! and the fishing pole works out too. Highly recommend looking at the lines with an engine, it takes even stockfish a while to find the best lines.

"...and we have... the Evans Gambit!" Schrantz's face lights up. : ) Blackburne's tactical mind is probably among the best ever and to do it into his 70's is incredible. If he had incorporated more positional theory into his game (like Steinitz at the time) he probably would've dominated at the top level and be much more famous today. Alas Blackburne was a true romantic. Drink whiskey while sacrificing everything!

I highly recommend lowering the amount of ads per video, I wouldn't go over 1 per 10 minutes. It does affect viewership.
