Them separating from favorite is the best move they could have made. It definitely hurt their brand in my opinion. Favorite has such a bad reputation among fishermen. He was using a St. Croix Avid X 6'6" to sling his jerkbait. He was using a Dobyns Champion XP for flipping. He was using a Shimano Tranx 300 reel and a Shimano Expride rod for his big swimbait rod. That's all I could see from this video, though.

Champion definitely built up hype in the last few years. We use it more so for the Quality over other generic tee shirt brands. But 100% agree with you on seeing it back in the day at TJ Maxx and K Mart and thinking less of it.

Jon One important thing about fishing in cold water is reeling slow Since the water is cold, the fishes are "stiff" and wont be able to smack in the lures as easily. I live in finland and the water tempature is about 5-10 degree celsius.

One of my favorite tactics for these Louisiana bass is a shallow 2-3 ft jerk bait. I throw it over a log or next to a cypress tree and twitch it to where it just stays over the bed. I’ve caught some really nice fish doing that
