Jamal Edwards kickstarted Eds journey to fame. At the very start of the video you can see a microphone in a room that's where Ed performed "You need me, I don't need you".

You’ve just explained my thoughts on Ed’s recent music way better than I ever could. I played this song to my mum and she said ‘that’s great but that doesn’t sound like Ed Sheeran’. I told her this is exactly what the Ed Sheeran I fell in love with sounds like

The tracks that were put out onto mainstream radio. I think we’re very different than the ones that are on his entire discography. You have to actually listen to the songs that are on the albums or the bonus tracks to get the Ed Sheeran that we know.

I forget that Ed is a good rapper too. I remember the early SB days, him and Devlin going bar for bar! Absolutely crazy and them two were incredible together. All thanks to Jamal! You can’t expect an artist to write music like they did when they were younger and going through struggles. Naturally their music is going to evolve and Ed Sheeran is a married man with children who isn’t going through heartbreak necessarily so it’s all about writing songs from different perspectives.

I will say I was reactant to see Ed live because of the reasons you’re not a fan, but his live shows are where he lives his musical vision for sure - big show, lots of artistry, lots of adaptations of songs and he does a 10min you need me version, honestly worth seeing despite any reservations. A bit like his collaborations albums which clearly serve to scratch his creative itch.

It’s weird because I’m sure a lot of people do, but I really see myself as Ed’s biggest, most supportive fan. His music means more to me than any other artists’, and the connection I have with it is very dear to me. I haven’t watched what you’ve said about it, but I can tell you that I would probably be able to guess and would most likely agree with your analysis of some of his recent songs. The reason I love his music is because of the deep, raw, intensive relationship and connection I have with it, and much of the equals album lacks that in my opinion. People love him, and people like him, and he may feel that he has to appease to both of those populations. You don’t get to selling 9million tickets by trying to please just one population I guess. It’s so sad to see him lose a best friend like that. My heart goes too him ❤

In Caribbean culture. We have a something we call a “nine night”. It’s similar to an Irish wake but takes place 9 days after the person has passed. Usually at their family home. It’s where people come together to share condolences, reminisce and celebrate the life of the person who has passed.

When it comes to Ed Sheeran, "Divide" was pretty good for the most-part, "No 6 Collaborations" was almost entirely trash, and "Equals" had 3 or maybe 4 songs that I liked. You're absolutely correct in saying that this particular song actually feels like the old Ed Sheeran that I originally fell in love with on "Plus" and "Multiply". As sad as the origin of this song is, it actually feels like the real Ed Sheeran when I think of him in my mind.

Equals is an incredible album from start to finish if you really deep it from ed's new perspective becoming a husband to his wife and father to his children, its very different to the rest and from a much more mature mindset, and this for me is why it throws everyone off because its so different

@Abby-lovebae 3 ай бұрын
I agree with this equals is an excellent album. You have to listen to it from start to finish at least once to be able to get the whole thing in the manner that he likes he wanted it to be heard it’s different because he’s a completely different person with your right being a husband and a father and everything comes out a little bit differently, but he still has that powerful way of touching you with his songs.
@Abby-lovebae
@Abby-lovebae 3 ай бұрын
Subtract is heavy and it’s all about when he was going through this. Where his wife got cancer while she was pregnant and then Jamall died and it was just spiraling for him so subtract his basically what came out of that time in his life those months during that where he didn’t know what to do and he put it all in songs and all of them have a specific meaning to him and that’s why they’re good, they are a little dark but still, But I can still hear the Ed that we know in love and every single track
@KaiLucasZachary
@KaiLucasZachary 3 ай бұрын
@@Abby-lovebae Subtract is far better than Equal or No 6. I gave both plenty fair chance from start to finish. The majority is radio pop, not the type of lyrics and songwriting that made people fall in love with him at the start.
