I showed this to my Dad, he worked for J&S for 48 years, from the age of 14. He started in the drawing office and in the 60s was a technical rep. During his time he sold over 500 of these. He had some great snippets of info about the origin of the 540, he was there when it was developed.

Only 500, I am sure he sold more than that!

Great video. You are correct, there are very few videos on the J&S 540. Surprising as there 540's in nearly every workshop i have set foot in. Technical stuff is even harder to come across, no one seems to know much about them.

Excellent video, I just bought one of this, but it spills oil everywhere. Do you have a maintenance guide? Or how can I stop this?

Hello Rod. I have the 540P here in Florida. It’s one of my favorite machines to operate. Which taper is your spindle?
