More details on the Mind Expander: bit.ly/3RPN3a7
One of the few flat/rocker boards that I like, the crazy shape of the Mind Expander works really well in deep snow, if you are after a loose and surfy feel. With a small sidecut, it turns quickly and easily, so you get a board with a lot of float without having to ride a monster sized board.

Love the content man, as a shop employee reviews like this help me a lot, especially being in Ohio where demoing a board is unheard of.

I like your new approach and camera angles towards the end. I just picked up the Jones Frontier for this winter, any upcoming reviews for that? Thanks for the vids man, you should make them more often. 🤙🏼

Thanks! Yeah I rode the Frontier this winter, and have a couple of times when it was called the Explorer, though I didn't film with it. I quite liked it, it is pretty good as an all-mountain ride everything board. A good medium flex, and just the little bit of spoon so it wasn't too loose, it's pretty fun!

I took the 2019 model to Hakuba last year and it was absolutely unreal. Alot more playful and more nimble then the hovercraft i previously had

I was really torn between getting this in l54 or l58 ... went l58 for the extra float as I've already got a libtech mc wayfinder and rossi sushi for the trees

Ahh yep good choice, but even the 158 still turns nice and quickly for its size

Really doubting between the 158 and 162. I am a 6ft, 200lbs rider. This will be my pure powder board. Do i go for the bigger size or not? Which bindings would be suggested with this?
@SnowboardRobot
@SnowboardRobot 4 жыл бұрын
Both would be fine, but I would probably go for the 162 if you just want this for powder - it will still turn nice and quickly, and have plenty of float. My top choice for bindings would be the snowboardrobot.com/binding-reviews/burton-cartel/ but anything mid to stiff flex should do a good job.

OKAY. Less than a minute in, your "on the table" shots have told me MORE about the profile of the deck, than the other "on the table" reviewer that we both know about, but who uses Vimeo (I won't go there). I b7tched out on this, and chose a Rome MT 157 (Pow Division) instead - I deliberated over the two of them for more than an hour, whilst Twelve staff let me do my thing. If it was the ME, I needed the 162, but they didn't have it in stock - hence my 157 fat wide Rome. A few things about your review have me asking -- could you "sling against the wall", no pressure, totally off the top of your head, some boards that: * are as playful as this * are as effective in pow, but ALSO smash the groomed * tight-ish turning radius (I don't need a Lib Tech Wayfinder, but under 8m is nice, too!) * Aside from converging sidecut radii (the by-product being extra contact points RIGHT at your feet), something that DOES NOT use macoronertraction? Like I said, no pressure, and don't feel the need to respond immediately.... however, I'd be interested to get your thoughts on this on, Lachy (you can PM me - I don't need an overlord to tell me what's up, I'm simply fishing for the opinion of someone whose words I'd enjoy mulling over)

Ahh nice thanks! There were a few that I rode this season, that might have been a good option - though they are almost all camber/have some camber so aren't as playful as the flat and rocker of the Mind Expander. The Burton Skeleton Key, Nitro Woodcarver/Banker/Fusion all cover those points pretty well, they float easily, grip and carve hard. Off the top of my head I don't think that many of them have the Frostbite (on Burton) edges or whatever the name is that Nitro use for contact points under the feet.
