@Daniel S he actually doesn’t sleep before fights. He even talks about it on the JRE podcast. He parties and gets blacked out wasted the week before the fight. It’s truly intriguing how a guy with such horrible habits has such success. God has blessed him and he just pisses it all away.

Every rip Jon does rips into DC’s soul. That kind of confidence you can’t fake. The worst one was the your good but not great line then saying all his shortcomings, I bet that line still hurts.
Think Outside Of The Idiot Box8 ай бұрын
It’s still amazing to me how good Jones is without really trying. I say that knowing he puts in the work and trains hard but everything is just so effortless for him when he does it. I feel like he could be the best at anything he ever tried. Some people have a way about how they go about things that just allows them to adapt to any situation they get into and morph into the correct person for that activity. If he wanted to be the best chef or cowboy, whatever he tries, he’ll be able to just be the best. And he’s still so damn young! I think he’s gonna run through the Heavyweight division now that he’s moving up. As good as Stipe is, I think Jones just beats him. I don’t think it’ll be easy, but it won’t be as tough as it should be.

Think Outside Of The Idiot Box7 ай бұрын
@Vk3nn That might not be enough time for both of them to have a long enough camp for that fight. They said if they can’t get it done for December, then they’re gonna try for March. I do think Jon will win the fight but Stipe will give him a few good rounds. Honestly i’d have a very hard time ever betting against Jones but some guys are just tough matchups for him. Not tough in the way that it would be for most people but tough in the “Jon Jones” way. He won’t knock him out quick but he’ll win the fight.

True. Sometimes I forgot that DC is almost 10 years older than Jon cuz Jon looks old but DC has always been mature and experienced in being a responsible adult for a long time. DC losing the fight is pretty heartbreaking I think. He went in with all odds of life against him with his age and became a Champion. Ufc is becoming soft in promoting fights man. From 2013-2018 was the best time and some great rivalry. Fighters tryna kill eachother in the press-conference but nowadays it’s all soft. (No more Bad Blood), ( No more Realistic Rivalry), They gotta bring some old OG to tell the young blood how to promote the fight.

@Akhil Sharma Exactly my thoughts man, they really dropped the ball when they didn’t do a bad blood series for Usman Vs Covington and Adesanya Vs Costa, two great rivalries with very poor promotion

That overhand that Jon threw at Cormier in the press scrum was absolutely nothing to do with theatrics. He was really really tryna hurt that man. If he somehow severely injured him right there I think he would have been just as satisfied as if he did it in the ring. A real calculated savage. Fave fighter ever to watch (Khamzat getting up there slowly) but a scary, dark human being..

A true psychopath. No emotions, lives on short-lived thrills and adrenaline rush. However, the Michael jordanesque, killer, mentality and the absolute need to be the best made him force himself to become the most dangerous hand to hand combat expert the world has ever seen. Steroids or not he would still be in the exact same position he is today and that is truly unbeaten (even if his record says one loss, we all know he dominated that entire fight with literal ease and then he pulled a Jon Jones AKA self sabotage)

There is something in Jon Jones that makes watching him very enjoyable. This maniacal narcissism and extreme confidence but not McGregor like, more like a evil genius from movies. This plus the fact that he never lost, has insane fight IQ and somehow keeps his status as a mythical fighter makes everything Jon related 10 times better. He is either a perfect actor and showman or true violent psychopath. Considering all of this, I'm really looking forward to the Ngannou fight and I really can't see how he can lose
garden Жыл бұрын
lets be honest he has a lost on his record, and he actually lost to Reyes. he ran up a weight class because hes terrified of the rematch, and now of Blachowicz, only to find Ngannou
Wilqu60 Жыл бұрын
@garden I don't think he lost to Reyes or Santos. I actually see big fight IQ and champ ezperience in those fights. Also, Jon Jones was always better at rematches. He KOed DC, he mauled Gus. I don't think he ran to HW because he was terrified, look, he acomplished everything at LHW. There would always be some new contenders like Jan, Jiri or Rakić now, but Jones has been fighting all contenders since 2011. His transition to HW makes perfect sense. Also I don't think that when Jones will finally fight for the belt, Ngannou will be the champ and even if he is the champ then Jones beats Ngannou 9/10 fights. He fought Rumble Johnson in his prime who also had an anvil and a sledge hammer in his hands.
Benjamin Richardson Жыл бұрын
@Wilqu60 Jon never fought Rumble, but I absolutely agree with everything else you said. That garden guy who commented is a text book casual. He actually believes that Jon lost to Matt Hamill. LOL I hope he goes and watches that fight and realizes how big of an idiot he is

Well, his rivalry with DC was legit. Conor's are hyped up to catch eyes and sell tickets. Which is fine but that's the difference.
Jameslawz Жыл бұрын
Jones long lanky limbs gives him such a huge advantage over Cormier, tripping this guy up is almost impossible for Cormier since he reacts like rubber. It's almost like chopping a tree down, Cormier knew it would waste too much energy trying to fully commit to a takedown which is why he always single legged but still failed since Jones is so tall he could literally overhead his leg around Cormier and regain his balance without much sweat. Reach advantage is important for stand up fighters, their vital spots are also naturally harder to reach (such as the head).

I mean steroids are a pretty big advantage too but ok

Cool story bro…. Go ahead and hold off on chapter 2 though 🙄
H B Жыл бұрын
Reach advantage like that is an outlier.. we will never have any fight close to those stat differences again.. i get it’s important but most of the time its 3-4 inches and thats not much considering it’s on the end of each arm (so its 1.5-3 realistically) not arguing btw just pointing out that jones and MAYBE 5 others in history are the only ones with this gift to use.. especially versus another outlier in Dc (5”11 230 pounder lol) thats why i think most other fighters need to just adjust their style to compensate instead of complaining

I was literally sick to my stomach after Jones popped (Post UFC 214). Things haven't been the same for me ever since, I'm sure a lot of other JBJ fans still feel that same way! I'll always cheer for him and hope he don't pop for roids but I do believe this tarnished his legacy in 2017. I couldn't help but feel sorry for Daniel Cormier here though. The guy's clearly clean, older then Jones, straight edge, trained his nuts off for every fight, he was never in trouble for dumb shit, he definitely grew on me in during Jones' absence.

Bones is honestly my favorite trash talker. He ranks among cruz sonnen and bisping..only everything he says is 100 percent backed. There's literally nothing you can say thats certified against a person who is virtually undefeated...not only that, but effortlessly destroys his top contenders after weekends of drug abuse and ambiguous relations with numerous women..the fact he remains seemingly humble and like a normal person just pads the stats.

I'm not sure if anyone else understood what really happened here at 44:24, I'm a professional boxer...If you understand follow through and what pulling a punch looks like, you would immediately notice Bones instead of putting DC lights out for the night...He chose to pull his punches to not cause any further damage...What a guy, BIG RESPECT for Bones for respecting DC family and his well-being.

To play devils advocate he did slam his elbow in to DC heads with all his weight behind it a few times before fist slapping him till the ref stopped the fight

DC was honestly treated so terribly during this time. He was the fighter that was always ready and literally the one keeping his nose clean. When Jon says, "everyone deserves a second chance". You are correct sir, but I'm fairly certain you got 3 or 4 chances.

the “yeah alright be prepared to do that” in response to DC’s “i will die to beat you” was very telling. Jon was never worried and honestly he would’ve beat DC 10 out of 10 times. DC is a legend and might’ve been the goat, if it wasn’t for jon….

People dont understand that Jon has only fought former champions and number one contenders for the majority of his career. So anytime his performance looks poor remember his competition. Let that sink in.

There's something really dark about Jon. He's legitimately got sociopathic tendencies.

100% a narcissist and has the ability to turn off his emotions almost like legit psychopath. He's in his element in this rivalry.

All these years later and two constants remain: Jon is still an unbelievable talent, and Jon is still an unbelievable fuckup. The dude is his own worst enemy and needs serious psychological help. It's impressive that even with all the advantages on paper against DC- age, height, reach, and tainted drug tests that DC was still his biggest rival. I don't think if they were the same age and height that Jon beats Cormier. He had ALL the advantages and still popped three times when he either fought Cormier or was going to fight him. So he either had doubts and needed the mental edge, or- did it just because and thought he'd get away with it.

Jones was throwing low kicks the entire fight to lure Cormier into blocking low. The headkick that stunned him was the first headkick he threw the whole fight. Great strategy. The lead up to this fight was unbearable. Hype levels were off the charts.

As arrogant and brash as he might be watching him box is beautiful. A lot of stuffs even missed to the naked eye but seeing the slow mos and how he blocks and slips shots by an inch then comes back with his own. In terms of technicality in boxing he’s in a league of his own and few come close
