That large black man with Afro and smiling, with white t shirt and dirty jeans that Jim hugged at the beginning , his name is Anthony Simon . This collection of promotional footage spans over a period of time. From the beginning of the video: 1975, March 1976 (storeroom clip) and 1976 to early 1977 (red pyjamas). But there are definitely more videos of Jim promoting Jonestown besides these clips; when he is showing Kool Aid in the storeroom in March 1976 and the bananas in late 1976 as two examples. He moved there permanently in June 1977, then of course many videos were made on the pavilion etc, when he lived there.

Of course, now we all know something really WAS ' off' . But it's not hard to imagine this video having been an effective recruiting tool, given the issues in society at that time. The truly sad part is, a lot of those same issues never went away. Survivor Leslie Wagner Wilson is on tape saying she fears that conditions exist today that could lead to another ' Jonestown ' . For that reason , it's important for people to remember this tragedy. So that it never happens again.
