he said his dad gave him the things that he DIDN'T want. I took it the other way, his dad leaving him with bad traits/genetics that make him vulnerable to addiction, depression, aggression perhaps

Agreed. When he was growing up his dad was an alcoholic and they used to fight all the time. Then he left him to be a missionary. So I also took that as everything he didn’t want as in addiction, constant drinking/alcoholism, anger etc

This wasn’t MGK or Machine Gun Kelly…he gave us Colson Baker with this one…all the vulnerable, raw, painful energy. He’s been my favorite artist for like 15 years now and I am so excited to see the new era of healing he’s entering!

This was early Mgk if you listened around 2012. So, it's still Mgk. He just being vulnerable again and allowing himself to release a song that isn't just catered toward his new hollywood persona. I agree though with you in the end. This isnt the recent Mgk. LACETFUP

MGK is my favourite artist he's misunderstood gets so much hate and still to this day don't understand why!! Kells is crazy talented and this track is him being vulnerable pouring his heart out with his struggles and pain he's gone thru in life. It's raw and authentic💯 This song is🔥🔥🔥 I have nothing but love and respect for this man🙏🖤

Its always so cringy seeing those people who only know about him because of the Eminem beef and talk about him as if that's all he ever did in his life. Its like they are stuck in that year and don't bother to do research on anything ever. I Mean hell even if we go based on just the Eminem drama alone, MGK thrived off of that drama and gree his fan base ten fold because he's one of the rare people to go up against Eminem and not get destroyed. If course en Eminem fan buys talk about it like it's a clear cut victory for em but it's not. Who's diss track was better is pretty split down the middle in terms of opinions. Alot of people thought MGK had the better one including me. The funny thing is I was one of those people who didn't know about MGK before that beef and thought "who's this clown?" And only after I listened to one song of his and another and another and started looking more into him did I start to do a full 180 on my view of him and he's gone on to become one of my favorite artists probably of all time. He's also the reason I stopped judging celebrities and writers when they say something controversial or get into drama on the Internet. At r end of the day that's just them getting attention to keep the money flowing in. It doesn't reflect who they are deep down and for all you know they might be really down to earth amazing people that can teach you a thing or 2. Yob just gotta ditch the tribalistic judgemental attitude and look beyond the surface level view that Internet drama often gives us and alot of people sadly aren't capable of doing that.

Same thing here, been my favourite artist since the lace up EP, so since 2010 or whatever, damn I've had to defend him against the most outlandish views through the years. But us who have followed him have always seen his pain, and his ability to pour it out and be a voice for the, in a way fucked up people is second to none imo!

The line where he says "I was supposed to die at birth" hit me so hard... It really surprised me when I found out how he was born because it's the exact same way I was born.. with the umbilical cord wrapped around my neck... I've been listening to him since day 1 and he has helped me through so much in my life. I'm so grateful for his honesty in his music. He's an amazing person and so strong. And I'm not not talking about his "character" MGK, I'm talking about Colson.

"I'm coming back just let me go.... I'm coming back don't let me go" sounds like someone saying they are leaving to go do something they shouldn't (drugs, gambling, etc.) and the family is trying to stop them but the person leaving is like "I'll be back, chill" but the last one is them saying "I might not come back, don't let me leave... I shouldn't be doing this" like they know deep down. That's how I interpreted it at least.

The way he first says "I'm coming back, just let me go" is a way to comfort his loved ones when he leaves out the door, because they don't know if he's coming back because of the bad state he is in when he leaves the house. Followed up eventually with "I'm coming back, don't let me go" which is basically him saying he's lying that he'll come back and his loved ones should stop him from leaving the house, because he might never come back with the sole reason to end it.

I hope this younger man realizes how lucky his is as well because his father seems to be very smart and connected to life. Although he seems to have misheard a few of the lyrics and then got the wrong msg from them lol. I hope y’all have some success with your review videos and KZbin stuff but even more than that I hope you continue to do stuff like this together and keep bonding over shit y’all enjoy together. Man y’all need to check out mgk from years ago. Before the Eminem beef. Before the pop music. Let me give y’all a few songs by him you gotta react to. It’ll bring you a lot of views too because these are some of the songs that lay dear to every mgk fan. Raise The flag Alpha Omega Sail The Gunner End Of The Road There’s so many songs that are really really fire. But Alpha Omega got so many bars it’s on Eminem’s level of lyricism. Raise The Flag is one of the realest songs, it’s a celebration of rags to riches kind of song. Please check them out you’ll get a whole new respect for how MGK formed his fanbase. Also there’s a video from back when he was first getting big. If you type “MGK Wheelchair kid” a clip will pop up of MGK meeting a fan at a blink 182 concert and the kid told mgk that his music was so inspirational that he was motivated to start getting out his wheelchair and fixing his legs. And he brought the kid to his own show on stage and the kid walked across the stage and the fans took the kid in as family. EST was a whole movement for a decade.

I feel like every time he says “I’m coming back, just let me go” 3 times then says “I’m coming back, don’t let me go” is because of depression and anxiety we all tend to tell people that we love and care about that everything is fine, that I’m fine and to just leave us alone but in the end we breakdown and tell them to not leave us.

This song reminds me of a song he wrote called Lead you on, it may not be reaction worthy but it’s a good song to listen to to get the old MGK. It’s all about his addictions and what it did to his life. MGK isn’t what everyone thinks he is. When he was a small artist only touring Cleveland he had a small fan base. On IG every week he would post a dedication to his fans getting tattoos of his lyrics or anything that has to do with him. I got a tattoo of lyrics from one of his songs. It got a lot of hate because of the wording, he private messaged me and told me that as long as I loved the tattoo he supported it and to not listen to what everyone says. That’s who I think of when I hear about MGK. 12 years later and I still think about it.

When he says his biggest fear is dying and not leaving anything behind.................... he is talking about a legacy as in impact on society, making sure everything he is doing is helpful to someone else, like when he said "Fuck what's meant for me, because I don't ever wanna become a celebrity I don't ever want someone to feel less than me So put your camera down and stand next to me " He is talking about making sure he is remembered as someone who was not just a High end celeb, but someone who see's other humans as HUMANS and just wants to help them through hard times as he wishes someone would have done for him....................... Hate this man or not, this song truly humbles us as humans. To see that this persona CELEBS are given is not who they truly are, they have issues and struggle just as you and i do on a day to day basis.

First time seeing a reaction from ya’ll. I love how attentive you are to the song and the lyrics. This is a very deep song about things he’s been trying to tell people about but he’s so misunderstood or written off as he said in the song. If you dive deep into MGK you’ll see that he’s had a lot to overcome. As a longtime fan of his it makes me so happy to see people loving this song. Thank you for reacting to this one! If you get into more of his music, PLEASE check out Glass House and See My Tears ❤. Definitely subscribed! Keep up the good work!

If you like deep rap take a listen to NF. His entire catalog is deep and relatable. This song gave me big NF vibes but with that unmistakable MGK touch
