I know it's kind of an old video, but I've gotta say I loved it. As a Brazilian, just a quick trivia about Mandioca ( the C is pronounced as Castle). It's basically the little cousin of potatoes, they were the base diet for lots of tribes before the Europeans arrived.

CORRECTIONS: 1:08:57 - The FAQ states that you can't use gold or science in the place of other resources for the trading action, so Matt shouldn't have been able to spend gold for this. 1:17:29 - Players can't generate new resources on captured buildings, but can spend resources that are already there. So Matt shouldn't have made a science here. 1:29:25 - The FAQ states that you score for all units that were deployed at least once, so they don't have to be on the board in order to score them. 1:32:13 - Matt undercounted his city by 2 points, so he should have gained 18.

That first one makes total sense, otherwise you could always end up cycling through 2 gold for 2 gold and getting a gold card, playing the gold card for extra actions and going through the entire deck.

I haven't watched the video yet, I'm just super happy to see this wonderful game showcased! Super excited to see how it went for you two. This is the kind of game we were missing in our collection without even knowing! It's just so much fun and really makes you want to play again. One of my favorite things about it is how colorful it is!! Love it! I feel that more than a few things got a bit lost in translation maybe, so people felt the rules were not as clear, that didn't get as confusing in Spanish, thankfully, but we still needed a couple clarifications on a couple of things. Still, once you learn it once, it's super easy to get back to!

This game was way better than I was expecting! Do you think 3+ players would have been even better? I can imagine 3 players can end up with two players in conflict and the third player ultimately benefiting.

This game goes well with all player counts! This weekend we had a non conflictive 4p game and while it was low scoring, it was still fun for everyone!

Played this at 2p twice, really enjoyed it. But it didn't quite surpass Scythe in our eyes (which is the game this inevitably gets compared to), which meant that even though we liked it, it probably wasn't going to get many further plays. But we totally missed that you could flip the tiles when refilling their resources. That's a huge rule we missed. Thanks for continued great playthroughs Jon!

1:09:06 So, I talked to the designer of the game and he clarified to me that you can't use gold as a resource in trades. You have to actually spend the exactly resource that the trade specifies. Gold and science can be use as other things when using it for payment not for trades.

1:27:00 That painting lets you move a used manufacture token from the arches to the point scoring card to get those 1 and 2 points. You don't need to have the painting and then manufacture and put the upgrade on the painting during the game.

38:08 After making his other moves, Jon had the option of looking at one of the undiscovered tiles on the board, courtesy of his Era 1 token upgrade on the action he took. While this would not have given any bonuses or effects at the time, it could have provided him with additional information to inform his decisions later.

I believe Matt also lost out on a point on the Factory at the end, when he could have put one of his pentagonal manufactured products on the card. He hadn't built the octagons, so he wouldn't qualify for the +2.

Also, there have been a couple of new maps released for different player counts, for the game, both fan and official ones, which give plenty more variety! We've been trying all the 2p maps for example! Don't know how many of them are on BGG, but we got a compilation from Ludopedia, which is basically a bgg-like web for Brasil.

Now I'm kinda sad we sold our copy...😢 But it seems to me, that the German rulebook wasn't clear enough, I had a few "Huh, so that's how that works" moments during your playthrough.

I dislike direct conflict, so I wasn't predisposed to like this one. After seeing the playthrough, I don't see anything that would make me take the chance that the direct conflict wouldn't spoil it for me. While I don't care whether a game is pretty or not, I do think it's spectacularly "messy" and that the iconography is unhelpfully cramped and small. So you've done me a service by allowing me to deploy my money elsewhere. Thank you!

FWIW with more than 2 players there are maps that have very little conflict on them.

We were honestly not sure about this, the rulebook seemed inconsistent and we decided to choose the side of not scoring units out there. Do you know if there has been any official clarifications for this?

In the english rulebook it says you score for "deployed military units" and the action to put them on the board is "deploy". It even says if they are removed back to your board they don't need to be paid for in order to "redeploy them". This made me think they are only "deployed" once out on the board.

@@JonGetsGames just to clarify, I searched in the english version and in page 19 i found this: "After combat, all Military Units defeated in combat are placed into the personal supply of their owners, not back onto their initial spots on the Player board. Military Units in a player’s personal supply can be redeployed at no cost, and THEIR VICTORY POINTS ARE ALREADY ASSURED. "
