Lyrics: Loneliness is living When you're swimming in the gloom, Everywhere is silent, Nothing is ever new. An underwater comet, I fly so gracelessly, Open my eyes for a moment, Just to check I still can't see We are deep sea fishes Beautiful to nobody, We are navigating nowhere Blindly through infinity A single point of glowing, A beacon in the dark, The signal of the hunter, I carry the same mark. The distant shape is growing, A ghostly yellow light, O, water slowly flowing, Take me to my love tonight We are deep sea fishes Beautiful to nobody, We are navigating nowhere Blindly through infinity I hide myself from vision, My strange and twisted form, You see your own reflection, I see myself in yours. A fluttering of thermals Holds us warm and close, The things that seem eternal are the things that change the most. We are deep sea fishes Beautiful only to we, We are navigating nowhere Together through infinity

This is one of the most stunning pieces of songwriting ever created with a guitar. Everything about this is superb in every way. The song structure, the lyrics, the melodies, the rhythm created by the interaction between the left and right hands, the execution, the selective use of effects, the lighting, the way the set and lights aren’t just background, but they’re part of the song in an integral way, and of course the essence of Jon that comes through every inch of this. It’s absolutely stunning. Give yourself a pat on the back my friend because this is one of the best pieces written in years, by anyone, playing anything.

I smile because I have had this effect play upon me several times with a few different songwriters. Micheal Hedges Woman of the World and Aerial Boundaries, Eric Mongrains Pandora's Box, Daniel Padims Song for a King, Jon Gomm's Passionflower. All musicians that transcend songwriting and redefine the very nature of beauty.

You're pretty optimistic, aren't you? I guess even Andy McKee would struggle covering that song. ;) Honestly, I've seen a bunch of amazing, impressive fingerstyle guitarists doing similar techniques but you really take the cake. And then singing on top of it all, and everything so flawlessly. Not a single finger movement is wasted, on every movement you play a note or drum a beat. I guess I need to go checkout the new album and consider buying it on vinyl.
